Alongside Katoomba, Leura is considered the heart of the Blue Mountains. Leura also boasts some of the most popular Blue Mountains lookouts and walking trails, including Gordon Falls and Lyrebird Dell.

Leura Station is about 1.4 kilometres away and has regular trains to and from the Sydney CBD in around two hours. There are bus stops next to the train station on Railway Parade with multiple lines servicing Leura and neighbouring Blue Mountains towns.
