This is a unique property! We enjoyed it, but we were not prepared for so much wind and rain. It would be good if the owners provided hooks or more hangers or a hall tree to hang wet raincoats on.
We rented the whole place. My adult daughters had the separate suite where you have to walk outside. The ceiling leaked due to heavy rain, but property managers came the next day to adddress it.
We lost power twice, once for about 2 hours and the other time we did not have it when we returned at the end of the day and it came on in about 45 minutes. We had candles. That they provide, you can still cook on the gas stove, still light the fireplace and still use the water without electricity. Just be mentally/ emotionally prepared. We ended up playing games in front of the fire and it was great.
We were there in January and we used the gas fire every night, so cozy!
The main room could use more light in the evening, 2 or more floor lamps would do it.
I polled the 6 of us and we collectively decided to give it 5 stars despite the leaks :)
Also it is 1 km to Monteverde and also close to Curi Cancha preserve and children’s eternal rain forest so a good location overall.
