Retreat in the Mountains

We enjoyed our stay in Monteverde. The location was just far enough outside of town and the amenities were excellent. We loved the hot tub.

Nice property

Our stay was beautiful, property was beautiful… strong smell of ammonia… but was not a cleaning ammonia smell… not sure what it was… owner was very helpful…

Simply lovely

A lot of effort was put into making this VRBO a great place to stay. I highly recommend staying here. I also highly recommend following the exact route the property manager gives you. (I did not, I just followed what google maps gave me and ended up on a serious off-road adventure)

Lovely

To stay here a car is the best way to go—it’s located on a lovely property a bit outside of Santa Elena proper—not walkable to the Cloud Forest and other things we wanted to do, although only a short drive to coffee tours and a nighttime wildlife tour. The house is beautiful in a very contemporary Latin American style. Nice pool, but it was a bit rainy when we were there and sun breaks did not correspond well with when we wanted a dip—but we can’t blame the hostess for that

Great Home, location & host

Modern, bright, roomy with new appliances, pots/pans, dishes, new washer/dryer. Great free coffee. But there was no hot water in the sink in the 2nd bath room. Neither of the bath rooms had shampoo or shower gel. Big & nice yard with privacy. Great host.

Relaxing in Costa Rica mountains

Pretty house and yard, plus comfortable porch with hot tub. But no hot water in the en suite bathroom sink, and shower fixture needs repair. No information about local area provided (tho we admit we don’t speak/read Spanish). Only one dishwasher soap tablet was provided for our 3 night stay. And only salt, oil and sugar. Pepper would have been nice, and a better cook pan for eggs.

Overall, the stay was good. There were a few discrepancies between the listing and actual property. The most important being that there was no air conditioner but instead an evaporative cooler which doesn’t really cool down the house, especially the bedrooms. There were quite a bit of insects, especially ants and flies but it’s Costa Rica so kind of expected. It could use some ant traps in the house and a fly swatter. Property is beautiful. The owner was easy to communicate with and made every attempt to fix problems that arose during our stay. Good wifi connection.A little out of town but if you have a car then it’s not an issue. Everything is between 10-15 minutes.

Out of the way perfection

We stayed here with a family of four and a family of five while we explored the area. This house and property was beautiful and well maintained, it had everything we needed. The outdoor area was lovely and both kids and adults enjoyed the pool, basketball, and grassy areas. The beds were comfortable and towels and linens were generous. This property is tucked away from the main bustle of town and requires a car. We did have dog visitors (who were all adorable) and dogs did bark in the night, however, you are likely to experience this no matter the location. It did not deter us and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Fabulous view. Lots of windows.

Awesome pool. We had trouble finding the house after dark at 630pm. A picture of the garage side of the house would have helped a lot because that is what you first see coming up the road. Did not connect with check-in until third day, partly because were we gone the second day site-seeing andat the beach. House needs some TLC but clean and comfortable.

Good property to live In

We reached there when the temp dropped and it was cold so we couldn’t enjoy outdoors but overall property was great except one issue. There was an electric water heater in the bathroom for shower and somehow one was working in one bathroom but other one was throwing current even if you try to turn the shower head towards you. I brought it to the attention of owner and there was no response from owner. I would be wary of that part as my wife got a big electric shock when she touched it.
