The Salem room depicts dramatic decor of the English Regency Victorian era. The room is located on the second floor and features a queen-size sleigh bed, desk and comfortable chair beside the impressive red fireplace (non-operational) with original tile and cover from the early 1900s. The private bathroom is just down the hall and includes a tub/shower combination and pedestal sink.

Built in 1907 as the private residence of Henry Fries Shaffner, the co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust, this extravagant Victorian-style mansion boasts Tiger oak hand-carved paneling, original coal-burning fireplaces, a grand staircase and priceless antiques. The Shaffner has retained historic charm while expanding to include modern amenities such as free WiFi, 43" smart, flat-screen TVs, alarm/clock and USB charging stations.
