We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was fully equipped with everything you need! We loved sitting on the deck & enjoying the outdoors. The location was perfect for us, only 5 minutes away from the event we attended on Saturday night.

Check in & out instructions were clear, had a wonderful things to do and informational binder for people like us who are not familiar with the area. Had amenities ready to go for all seasons. Great stay. Wish we stayed longer.

Fun 4th of July weekend

Family gathering for 4th of July. Great location! Loved the private setting and ambiance of this property. The deck with outside table and lights was great to enjoy the evening.

Cozy and Fun

I liked the layout of the house, it has lots of little separate spaces if people want quiet. It was very hot outside when we arrived, so took some work to get things cooled down with the fans and windows, but, it wasn't a problem. The deck was pretty and it was fun to see the deer. It was a perfect place for our family.

Such a great stay!

The house was amazing! We had a wonderful time playing games and hanging out. All the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable! It was a close drive into town and about a 30 min drive to Bear Valley. We will definitely be coming back to the area again!

Great location, near popular hiking/nature parks. Clean space, comfortable beds. Great place for small group of friends to gather and relax. Property had all the amenities for a weekend getaway

Cute cabin

This home was a good size for our group- 4 adults and one toddler. The house is cutely decorated and the bathrooms are nice. Perfect location. Our only wish was if there were bath mats for the floor and a nonslip surface to the bathtubs. The patio table on the deck could also use some love - we didn’t end up eating outdoors despite the good weather.

Great Cabin!!!

We had the best time at the Sanctuary! The cabin decor was so charming and gave it such a cozy feel. Everything was clean. My kids appreciated all the games that the owner provided and access to Netflix. The location was close to everything we did, White Pines Lake, Natural Bridges, Big Trees, and Murphy's Pourhouse. The grocery store and restaurants are within walking distance as well. We also loved feeding the deer and squirrels that came to visit daily. We look forward to our next visit at The Sanctuary!

Very rustic

Place is adequate for a ski rental. Lovely location. Nice deck. Lots of space. Not the most welcoming place to hang out though. Very dark. Not enough lamps and many dont work. Fireplace doesnt work well. Kitchen utensils are cheap n barely function. We ran to the store for a new can opener so at least that's new. Drawers they are kept in are dingy. Cupboards are full of expired stuff. Was an ok stay. We were hoping for a bit more comfort.

Arnold home

We enjoyed property and area. White pines lake, bear mountain, snowshoe brewery and Mexican restaurant were great. Property is a little hard to find at night. At corner of Alder and Lilac. Had 8 people with dog. Only issue was top bunk bed support slat broke, 1 piece wood. Also no heat in upstairs bedroom but property management brought portable heater which worked great. I would stay her again.

Not ideal for hot days

During non-hot days, this would have been a lovely stay. Our stay was during weather in the low 90’s. The house does not have air conditioning and the house could not cool off, even throughout the night. It was really difficult to sleep or get comfortable. We actually left a day early due to this. The house itself, and the location was great though.

Great cabin for our family over Christmas

My wife and I stayed at the cabin over Christmas, along with our young adult children and our dog. The cabin was an easy 25 minute drive to the lodge at Bear Valley Ski Resort. Arnold is a nice mountain town. (Pro-tip: rent your skis from SNAC on your way into town.) Anyway, the cabin was well equipped. The fireplace was very cozy, as was the bed in the master bedroom. The dishwasher and the stove all worked well. We didn't make use of the deck and the grill, and the hammock was put away for the winter. But I could see how pleasant it would be to relax there in the summer while grilling something. The local grocery store had an impressive local wine selection. The driveway could accommodate four vehicles, but we only had two. It could get crowded with four vehicles.

Great cabin in Arnold

Every year, a group of five of us get together at a vacation rental in rural Northern California. This year we chose this outstanding cabin in Arnold. The cabin exceeded our expectations! The kitchen was fully stocked, and between ping pong, corn hole, and ladder ball, there was hardly a down moment. When we did relax, the front deck was incredible. It was private and there was abundant wildlife including many deer, squirrels and even a family of raccoons. In the evening, we loved that we were able to access Prime Video and Netflix to watch a few movies. The location of the cabin was ideal. We enjoyed a couple of visits to Calaveras Big Trees State Park (breathtaking, and only four miles away), White Pines Park (fishing, hiking, pickle ball less than a mile away), and the quaint town of Murphys was less than a 15 minute drive. As a group, we have never stayed in the same place twice over the last 27 years, but this cabin may be the exception. We are already talking about booking again for next year's get together. If we could give it more than 5 Stars, we would!!!

Comfortable but needs work

Let’s start with the good things. It is a very central location and meets the basic needs of a rental. The check in and check out was great. The house was clean.Areas for improvement: when we got there not all the lights were functioning and as we tried to turn others on a breaker tripped, and the outlet sparked in my wife’s hand. I had to go outside in the dark and hunt around for the breaker box and fix the two tripped breakers. Fortunately, that did not happen again for the rest of our stay. That is an example of an overall electrical system that is in need of a serious update. There are numerous overhead lights in the house that are nothing more than a swag plugged into an outlet on the wall. In the kitchen, there is a light fixture with a wire hanging loose and not connected to a bulb. We did not test it, but it’s hard to imagine how this is not alive wire with the configuration of the lighting. The pictures of the house were taken some time ago and when the house was in better condition. The picnic table and cabinets in the kitchen show substantially more wear than in the photos. Finally, the house must be very well insulated. It was not very cold outside yet the heater ran so often just to keep the house 68. I’m sure that if you had actual cold weather, it would probably run all the time. This is a problem because the unit is actually quite loud, especially in the area of the downstairs bedroom. Anyway, it’s not a terrible place, but not a very good value

Great location! Very clean and fully stocked kitchen. Nice large deck and plenty of wildlife. A little smaller than I thought but we had 7 adults and 2 children. Host was great and responded promptly. Even came up to check something. Very convenient to town.

Great House and Location

Set in the trees with a daily view of deer and squirrels. Extremely close to multiple places to eat, a market and shops so don't sweat it if you forgot something. You are only a few miles from the Calaveras Big Trees State Park and the Arnold Rim Trail is a 3 min drive This house has been renovated recently, they did a very nice job in the bathrooms especially. The internet is extremely fast, so working remotely and taking video calls had zero issues. We had a few hiccups but Heather was super responsive and got everything ironed out quickly.

Scenic Solace at The Sanctuary

We had a wonderful stay at this charming cabin in the woods! Each room has whimsical decorator touches while still providing all the comforts of a "home away from home." The beds were spacious and comfortable and each of the 3 bathrooms were thoughtfully updated and modestly appointed. The kitchen met all our of needs from coffee in the morning to preparing a dinner on our last evening there. A special addition was the abundent game selection, which ensured everyone visiting had a fun time! The BEST part of this property was the literal feeling of being in the Disney movie Bambi. We saw blue birds, bushy, silver tailed squirrels and multiple deer that would come and visit daily. There is even a "feeding station" positioned near the expansive outdoor deck that you can fill with provided deer food and water, to ensure their daily meals times are with you, at The Sanctuary. I highly recommed this for families looking for unplugged fun or just a respite from the daily grind of life. You will leave feeling rested and with a smile on your face!

Wonderful stay!
