Our recent stay was wonderful. Communications with the owners beforehand were so helpful and gracious (where to shop or dine; property features questions, etc.). Communication with the property manager was equally helpful and expedient (addressing minor repairs, notification of gardeners/pool maintenance, questions about the area, etc.).
If you've been to Bonaire (or Curacao) before, you know that the heat and the mosquitos/bugs can be two problematic concerns. With regard to dealing with the heat, this property has an abundance of ceiling fans (not just bedrooms, but also living room, kitchen, and porch) as well as AC in the bedroom and in the living room! Plus ample shade opportunities around the pool,, etc. Our favorite feature was the sizable screened in porch! This allowed for "outdoor" dining and relaxing with a minimum of bug interactions.
An aspect we didn't expect was the profound quiet. Other than faint construction or maintenance sounds, every day and night was punctuated by blissful silence, broken only by the occasional birdsong, etc. For certain, one needs a vehicle to get anywhere (shopping, downtown, any restaurant, etc.). We particularly enjoyed: Foodies, Karels, Blue Garden and Patagonia.
The pool was amazingly refreshing. We are a bit surprised by the bottles of water ringing the edges, but the explanation that it stopped the iguanas from defiling the pool area was apt. We did have two resident iguanas who would visit daily for a sun session on the walls, as well as countless birds, butterflies, small lizards, and dragonflies. In the immediate area there are wild donkeys and goats as well!
The path to the sea is a bit overgrown, and importantly the ladder itself has thin, round, iron rungs, so it does require a bit of effort to enter the water... but we were delighted with the convenience of that option!
A few updates from previous comments: It is dark, but there is adequate light to get around, we brought an extra lantern and headlamp, but hardly used them. But if you are more serious cooks do bring your own spices, there are some basics but that's all. Two bathrooms had some plumbing issues, but there are so many it didn't create any problems.
The house is immense and impressive; so much room to spread out! If you are coming with different couples/families, each of there bedrooms is en suite and the downstairs ones have their own locks and open to the pool area.
Overall, we were very pleased.
