Property was centrally located near many restaurants, vacation attractions, and the beach. Wish the weather had been nicer. Otherwise very comfortable for up to 12 people.

Great location, great amenities, perfect for multiple families

Check in was easy. We loved the pool and hot tub. Having access to the beach was wonderful. There was plenty of space for our three families.

Plenty of seating in the living room for everyone to be together and enough space to get away for quite times. Really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Easy and quick access to the beach. You will need to get use to 3 floors of steps which was expected on an oceanfront property. Beach Realty was very responsive.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is in an amazing location, views and beach access can not be beat! The pool deck is a wonderful place to spend time as well. The interior is clean and well organized with most of the rooms on one level and plenty of bathrooms and common spaces for family. The house is on the older side so the carpet, cloth furniture, and fixtures reflect this and would benefit from an upgrade. The house borders a public beach access so I wish the fence extended to isolate the house more from the public access point. A lattice privacy fence addition on the public access side of the pool deck would be amazing as well.

Rating Details: The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House is need of fixing. West side doors drip water as you walk out? 2 doors would not open! Bad trim in kitchen was broken and had plenty of shape edges. Great view, but the traffic from beach access is very busy and the homeless sleeping right beside the house.

Glorious location

The pictures are completely accurate! The pool and hot tub are amazing! The new decking all around, and to the beach is perfect. This property has it all! Beautiful views from the main floor, plenty of room, great kitchen open to the family room area. We had zero rain our week, so indoor fun wasn’t really needed, but it was so nice to have available just in case. We briefly used the pool table, but did use the downstairs fridge for our drinks and food to cook on the grill, spending loads of time at the pool, and walking to the beach.

Nice, well-equipped beachfront home

The house was centrally located near the Wright Brothers Memorial, Jockey's Ridge, and some very nice hiking trails run by The Nature Conservancy. It was also generally very well equipped. There were lots of dishes and glasses. There is a second refrigerator on the lower level although we never used it. The pictures do not show a Keurig but there is one which we appreciated. There were no scissors but I assume someone walked off with them. The dining table seated 12; and there was a second table that was perfect for jigsaw puzzles. We brought our own puzzles but they also had some there - which was nice since we ran into bad weather. The house was very clean. There were lots of stairs but we really didn't mind them except for move-in and move-out when we were carting lots of stuff. We rented the sheet/towels which seemed kind of expensive but definitely worth not having to bring them.

The main thing was all the wood decking and stairs. Also they had a service technician to replace an air conditioner during our stay which interfered with our plans For the cost of the beach house, it did not live to my expectations. We reached out to the rental company in regards to this matter to request some type of adjustment or refund, but we did not hear from them the final time.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although we had a great week with family, the house was not up to the standards we were expecting. The location was perfect. The pool and hot tub were great. The upkeep of the house left a lot be desired. The biggest problem was the deck and the wood around the pool. The wood was splintered and old and not kept up with or treated. We ended up with many splinters. Also we felt that the deck railings were very unsafe. We were afraid to sit out there. Also we were traveling with our parents and they were unable to use the outside stairs because they couldn’t use the railings because they were unstable and had splintering wood.. The doors on the top floor were difficult to use. One we couldn’t open at all. We had rain one night and so much rain came in that door that the floor inside the house was flooded. We spent the night drying the floor and washing and drying all of our towels. Many of The pots and pans in the kitchen were unusable. They were actually gross. There was burnt on food on the inside of the frying pans and the bottoms of the big pots were burnt. A lot of the plates in the cabinet were dirty. We were told someone would come mid week to clean the pool and hot tub, nobody ever came. We had to add water to the hot tub because it was so low. Although the house is on the older side we feel like there are a number of things that need to be addressed for the safely and enjoyment of any future guests. We’ve never had a experience like this and we have been renting in OBX for over 25 years. On a positive note there is a new gas grill that was great and Marcus the property manager was great. He was very sweet and kind.

The few complaints we have are that there were nails coming out of the decking boards around the pool and down the boardwalk, half of the step was missing as you walk off of the boardwalk onto the beach (we filled sandbags and put them there to keep anyone from falling). The grill on the deck needs replacing badly so we chose to cook in or go out each night. We brought along our electric skillet which was a good idea(every pot and pan stuck)

Not sure we have ever come across a home that had everything you want and need. Beach, pool, hot tub, pets, and so much more. We loved it. One thing of note. There are a lot of stairs. So if you have issues with stairs, you may want to think about it. Main living area is on the top floor.

Great Vacation for Our Entire Family of 14

Property was in a great location; it was very close to restaurants and shops. Our family loved being beach front, and we enjoyed the pool, hot tube and pool table. Everything was clean, and everyone had enough room to have time alone if desired. Although the property was being sold the day after we got there, Beth, now the former owner, went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of, and there were not problems with the transition.

Just what we were looking for

Enough rooms and beds to accommodate everyone comfortably. The decking around the pool was a little weathered causing a couple splinters, but manageable with shoes. Views from upper decks were great watching the sunrise with no obstructions. The dryer needed to be watched, maybe the timer was bad. But it dried the clothes that were washed fine. Plenty of seating for games and family meals on the upper floor. There was a lot of foot traffic on the south side of the property being right next to the public access point, not really a problem when using the pool or the hot tub with the privacy fence. Overall a good place to rent.

Property needs some attention

Location is good just not good upkeep. Nails coming up on deck and stairs, hole in deck covered with umbrella stand, mold on windows seals on 3rd floor, stairs and path to beach overgrown, hole in cupboard near floor across from fridge, very dirty air vents in ceiling, outdoor showers need fixed, window in upstairs bedroom has holes and taped in the accordion enclosure, molding is loose where living room transitions to dining.

Great ocean & neighborhood, run down home & property

Bugs & ants in kitchen, shower curtains mold covered, musty smell from old musty carpets, blinds breaking or falling apart, 2 locks not working, 1 kitchen cabinet didn’t work, outside property totally not maintained, deck railing very much risky, pool steps need a railing, steps and bridge to the beach in similar condition as the house decks, over the bridge the pathway to the beach was completely overgrown and needs to be at least cutback. Nails popping up on the different decks.

Great Stay!!

This is an older cottage, but it has been updated in many areas. It is located in the middle of all the activity, so if you are looking for a slow paced and secluded vacation, this is not for you. You can walk to get great pizza and homemade ice cream. There's a hardware/variety store right across the street. The description of the bathrooms in relation to the bedrooms could have made choosing our individual rooms easier, but it all worked out. I was pleasantly surprised at the great ocean views and the pool is large and very clean. Beth even gave us some shopping tips. We had a great time!

Great stay for friends and families!

This is a great property! We were worried from previous reviews from summer 2020, but the cleanliness was great. The owner also had a new vacuum already. No issues. Agree there are some items needing updating, but the house itself, layout, location and view were great. Owner was super responsive! Would recommend!
