This new 2 Bedroom modern farm house, is perfect for a relaxing peacful getaway. Short walk from the center of Trentham and a 5 minute walk to the state forest. Stunning srroundings and an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos wombats and native birds. All at your doorstep.
Trentham is just a short drive to Dalesford, Kynton, Woodend and Castlemaine. Plenty to see and do. Hiking, biking, noshing, grazing, drinking, or thinking, the options are endless at Black Cow Cottage.

Trentham is one happening hamlet. Nestled on the edge of the Wombat State Forest, this charming town boasts a goldrush-era streetscape and is a popular weekend getaway. Tucked away in Victoria’s central highlands, it's just over an hour northwest of Melbourne. Here you will be warmly welcomed by the locals as you discover boutique stores, charming country pubs, vibrant art galleries, and top-notch food and wine experiences. Located on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, it’s a destination full of natural beauty, from the spectacular Trentham Falls to the lush Domino Rail Trail.

The local resteraunts and pubs are amazing if you just want a pizza or dine at the famous Annie Smithers restaraunt De Furmier (bookings essentail)

The house features a Nook Elite Infrared two-person sauna is designed for relaxation and rejuvenation, offering a compact sanctuary for individuals or couples. It features high-performance carbon mica panels for efficient, low-EMF far infrared heat, promoting therapeutic warmth and detoxification. The sauna is crafted from 100% Canadian Hemlock wood, includes chromotherapy (light therapy), it offers features like internal audio with Bluetooth connectivity.

For bike riders, interested in Gravel Trails and Mountain Biking we have some of the best trails in Victoria literally on our doorstep. The 93 km Woodend, Wombat SF, Lederderg Track Gravel Loop goes right past our gate. There are plenty of shorter or even longer trails you can take if you have the stamina.

Gorgeous!

A fantastic stay, great hosts, charming home. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Heating & cooling throughout. Mike was thoughtful enough to lay out a game of corn in the hole he had made for your young girls to play. They were very happy as were we with the stay.

This house is gorgeous, spotlessly clean , warm and cosy, it is well appointed, has comfy beds and everything you could wish for. A short stroll into town, but far enough away to enjoy the peaceful surrounds. A very comfortable house

Perfect winter retreat

We absolutely loved our mid-winter stay at Black Cow Cottage, with the pre-warmed house and welcome note/gift pack on arrival setting the scene and a reflection on what great hosts Mike and Nicole were/are. The house is set in a nice quiet spot, and has a lovely feel, with a fully equiped kitchen and large and cosy living/couch setup easily accomodating 4 adults/2 kids. Would gladly stay here again.

This was our second time staying here, we loved it the first time and loved it even more this time. House has everything you need for a fab stay. Its super clean, warm, comfortable and cozy. Its a short easy walk to town, which has everything you need. Trentham is a beautiful small town, with all the charm of Daylesford, without the crowds. We were surprised at how many local attractions were close by. We drove to Daylesford, which was 15 minutes away. Mike suggested a local driver, who was great. He dropped us off and picked us up from Red Hare and Passing Clouds Wineries. We had a weekend of fun, food and wine. Cant wait to come back....again

Black Cow Cottage

Stayed over the Easter Weekend which was the coldest in 80 years. The cottage was really nice and toasty warm. It was clean and tidy and great place to come back to after roaming around the country side.

Amazing

This property is everything it says it is. Beautiful setting with all the privacy you want. Very clean and welcoming. All the amenities you would need. Comfortable beds. The host checked with us to see if there was anything we needed and gave us great suggestions on where to eat and local places to see. The town of Trentham is very charming and the locals made us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

Modern house with all that you need

We stayed here for a long weekend with our teenagers and we loved the house. Was very comfortable, from the under floor heating in the bathroom to the beautiful open plan dining, kitchen & lounge area. We had all that we needed. Would highly recommend this place. Thanks to our hosts Mike & Nicole.

WOW.

Black Cow Cottage Exceeded Expectations! I am a bit of clean freak and I can tell you this place was spotless. The host Mike was super friendly and was very responsive. He had made sure the heaters had been switched on prior to our arrival and the house was super cosy. The kitchen is huge, and had everything we needed, everything was great quality. The house has a great vibe and is furnished beautifully. It's an easy and quick walk to Trentham, lots of Kangaroos on the way. Would highly recommend staying here, can't wait to come back. Thanks for having us.

This house is in a great quiet location, but close to town and lots of adventures. The wildlife in this area is amazing. Its a new build so it has many mod cons, including heated tiles in the bathroom, and large well appointed kicthen. The house is very clean and comfortable. So many amazing eateries nearby.
