Shell Haven - Meredith Lodging

You’ll have stunning views of Alsea Bay Bridge, the bay and Waldport from this pretty, single-level Bayshore home, not to mention direct access to the bay down stairs from the yard. By day you’ll enjoy soaking up the sun from your wind-screened deck watching seals bob in the bay. By night, you and your guests can sit around the blazing fire pit and watch the lights twinkle on the bridge and in town. Throw out a crab ring or bait up your fishing pole and try your luck in the bay. If you’re successful, there’s even an outdoor utility sink to clean your catch. In the meantime, your guests will love the gorgeous light in the great room of Shell Haven, thanks to its vaulted ceiling and huge windows, including sliders to the deck. The TVs in the living room and bedrooms will keep you entertained. There’s shuffleboard in the garage, too! Two large bedrooms, one a large queen master suite with bay views and the other a king with a window seat and a bath in the hall next door, make this an excellent home to share with another couple. You’ll also enjoy access to the seasonal pool for a fee at the Bayshore Beach Club, plus the neighborhood playground and tennis courts. It’s also an easy walk to miles of sandy ocean beach. Try a stay in this beautifully situated, sparkling home—you’ll get a whole new perspective on the delights of Waldport!

Cute house with great views. We really enjoyed the outside patio, it was fun to watch the seals and birds. The home was clean and the shuffle board and table tennis in the garage was a great surprise! The bedrooms were comfortable but the carpet in the main bedroom was stained and I wish the king bed had been in the main bedroom; because except for the carpet the room is very pretty and had amazing views of the sunrise in the morning. We didn't get to fish or crab but you could do either if you stroll down the plank in the backyard. The subdivision had a lot of beach accesses very close by and the restaurant at the hotel was an added treat. Great stay!

Wonderful Experience in Waldport

The property and house were perfect for us! Great location and easy to find. The house had all the amenities and we loved the location with a great view of water. The home had a lot of light and was easy to navigate on one floor. A great experience for all of us.

We enjoyed our stay. The view is lovely and the neighborhood is quiet.The house was very clean and plenty of hot water.The beds were comfortable, though the bedroom facing the bay needs black out curtains because on sunny mornings that room gets extra light reflecting from the water very early. Also, there is an outside door in that bedroom with a glass window and no covering ( and oddly locked without a way to open).The livingroom was comfortable and kitchen was adequate.

tranquil and great views of Alsea Bay

Overall, we enjoyed the time spent in this nice, although a bit outdated home in Waldport. Watch out for the elevation change between the garage floor and the driveway, that couple of inches is a bit hazardous if you aren't mindful of it. The small problems were quickly addressed by property management.

Nice quiet little house!

The only complaint was the distance from the 2nd bedroom to the bathroom, my friend said she almost pottied in the pantry! (JK, she wouldn't really!) Otherwise it was well appointed and in a fantastic location.

Guest room (green bed and green nook) felt very outdated, cold and dirty. Carpet was stained all over. Carpet was also stained in the back mint room by the bed. I slept on the floor instead of in the green room. Spatula was full of grease, dishes were left in the dishwasher. Back door opens automatically from the inside when locked which was creepy. I had to make sure it was locked from the outside. Main room and kitchen and bathrooms felt clean though. I would make sure you post a pic of the guest room to be transparent and work on the carpet stains.

Beautiful views

The house was in a great location, beautiful deck and fit pit but the interior is old and needs a complete re-do. The furniture is very old, The living chair was broken, the lamp shade had stains and the ceiling fan was full of black dust. It could be a nice place if they made some changes. The best part of the house was the location and views.

The house is in an amazing area with the bay in view. Cute little house, I'm not one who write negative reviews so dont take it that way. I just wanted to bring up some flaws, because first impressions goes along way. I'm not expecting the grand hotel or anything fancy but when you put in the hard working money you saved to enjoy vacation you expect to feel like your in a clean environment. Well lets get started the carpets in the livingroom, and bedrooms need some shampoo, the blinds are pretty much in need of cleaning or be replace(pretty dusty) and the missing one's with just brackets in the window frame.the sliding door curtain could use a fast wash too. We were having a game of naming the dust bunnys hanging of the ceiling. Bring hand soap none given if you wash your hands after a trip to the bathroom none available. Maybe I'm worng and I'm sorry but when you pay cleaning fees you expect a clean house.With alittle TLC and some up grades this place would be amazing. I want to thank Shell Haven for sharing your home with us we made good memories. That view is what we paid for, for sure..

Work orders have been created for housekeeping and maintenance, including carpet shampooing in the living room and bedrooms, cleaning or replacing blinds (as well as addressing missing blinds), washing the sliding door curtain, and a detailed cleaning to resolve the dust issues mentioned. Additionally, we are coordinating window cleaning, and repairs to the outdoor fencing are also being scheduled. We take cleanliness and home maintenance very seriously and are committed to resolving these matters as quickly as possible. Shell Haven Experience

We stayed 3 nights at Shell Haven. We have stayed in this area for years and appreciate the view of the Alsea Bridge, especially at night. We enjoyed Alsea Bay during the day and liked to watch the small boats set and retrieve their crab pots, and we also briefly viewed an elusive seal and numerous waterfowl as they fished. The home was fine for our needs. It was close to our favorite hikes at Ona Beach and Cape Perpetua. Also, it was not too far to travel back to Newport to get the freshest (right off the boat) local seafood from Local Ocean. When cooking the seafood, we needed to open the kitchen window since the fan above the cooktop was no longer there. That would be my only concern, but you can work around it. Location, view, floor plan, ping pong table were all stellar! Excellent view of the bay, herons, seals, clams, crabs, shells and rocks galore.Cons: it's a bummer that you can't check in until 4:00 p.m. and must check out by 10:00 a.m., leaving us only one full day to really enjoy such a lovely setting, and then to have to have to do some of the cleaning for which we have paid a cleaning fee, on top of all the other fees, with a 10:00 a.m. check out was also a bummer. The advantage to a hotel is that you don't have to do any of the cleanup and you can often get breakfast made for you. While I know this has become standard for vacation rentals, it seems like things are becoming exorbitant and a little bit over the top for the prices that are being charged for homes. Also very disappointed that while a pool is advertised, we would have had to pay 8 per person to swim for a period of only 3 hours and the person who rented the place would have had to attend and pay the price as well even though I had no interest in going to the pool. Needless to say, we didn't bother! I didn't see where this was spelled out in the information prior to booking, though I may have it missed it. Despite these issues, if the prices were to remain approximately the same, we would most definitely rent again because of the gorgeous location and proximity to other activities and lovely beaches. Thank you for offering this property to vacationers.

Thank you for the 5-star review! I’m glad the location, views, floor plan, and ping-pong table added to your stay and that you got to see so much wildlife! I’m sorry the check-in/check-out window felt restrictive. We set a 4:00 p.m. check-in and 10:00 a.m. check-out to allow enough time for our housekeeping team to complete a thorough clean and prepare the home for incoming guests. I’ll pass your feedback to the team as we review our turnover procedures and guest communications. I’m also sorry you felt like you had to do more cleaning than expected. The cleaning fee covers professional cleaning between stays; our standard checkout list asks only for small tasks (trash, loading the dishwasher, etc.). I’ll ask housekeeping to ensure the instructions are clearer in the house manual and that supplies are stocked so future guests aren’t left guessing. Regarding the pool, that amenity and its access rules/fees are set by the community/HOA rather than by us. I apologize if the fee and attendant requirement weren’t easy to find before booking — we’ll make that information more prominent in the listing and pre-arrival materials. Thank you again for the thoughtful feedback and for choosing the property — we’re glad you’d consider returning and hope to host you again.
