Welcome to Moonrock! Our beautiful waterfront cottage is nestled in the heart of Muskoka. A quick two minute drive to Bala for the shops, Ice cream, restaurants and our local bakery. Close to trails for hiking or relax on the dock or deck. Not only will you enjoy all the creature comforts offered at our cottage, you can explore the local lakes, stores, natural features and great local restaurants in the area. A true natural getaway for you and your family!

The Moon Rock

To spite the weather not completely cooperating, the Moon Rock was a well appointed, maintained, and charming cottage retreat for our special weekend getaway. The cottage is cozy, and has a layout that provides privacy and quiet space to retreat if needed. The floating dock allows for folly and tranquility near the calm river. The hosts are wonderfully understanding. They certainly add special touches to make you feel comfortable and wanted as guests. We were all delighted and will go back in the future when visiting the Bala area if it is available!

Realaxing and Peaceful

We had a wonderful stay. Beautifully done inside. Right on the water with some amazing views. Very conveniently located to anything you might need. There's really something for everyone. Relax by the woodstove or recharge with a great night's sleep. Thanks for sharing this wonderful bit of paradise.

Wonderful Stay with Thoughtful Amenities and Exceptional Hospitality

The cottage was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very well maintained. It was stocked with thoughtful amenities, including a variety of board games and a Wii, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A detailed binder provided clear instructions for everything in the cottage, along with another binder outlining emergency procedures for situations like severe weather or power outages, which was very reassuring. During our stay, we were snowed in, but the owner kindly came to dig us out with a snowblower on our check-out day—a gesture we deeply appreciated. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we highly recommend this place!

Moon River Paradise

Sarah & Matt's place is a little slice of paradise on Moon River. It is the most beautiful, soothing and restorative spot. Beautifully decorated and furnished and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed chilling, paddling and chatting by the firepit - not something we do very often at home in UK. It was fantastic to have the use of a canoe and two paddleboards as we could all go out together as a family. Bala is a lovely town with all the essentials needed for a stay in a cottage. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage - we'd love to come back and stay on a future visit from UK. Andy, Debbie, Poppy & Jake xxx

Exceeded Our Expectations on all Levels

Communication from start to finish was excellent. Property was fabulous, even better than the pictures. So clean and stocked with everything we needed. All the conveniences of home in a comfortable and spacious cottage. All this plus the most beautiful view of Moon River. We will return to this property for sure.

Beautiful Cottage !!

This cottage exceeded our expectations!! Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing getaway from the city. Matt and Sarah are amazing hosts and are very accommodating. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful spot

This property was clean, spacious and a beautiful spot to relax. The owners were amazing to communicate with. We loved being close to downtown Bala for groceries and last minute items we needed.

Our cottage offers beautiful waterfront views and access to a wonderful river system. The nearby village of Bala offers restaurants, shopping as well as the most amazing bakery! We are also located very close to many activities like hiking, watersports, fishing and wine tasting.
