Family Holiday Home at the Lake

No frills here at Nana's place. Peaceful 1980's property in the quiet and friendly Kennedy Bay community. Spacious, rural with large fenced section boasts a main house and a self-contained cottage, perfect for the extended family. *Note: we no longer accept pets due to new carpets having been laid throughout.
Three doors down from Lake Rotoehu at Kennedy Bay, this homely space with pool table, dart board, books, games and kayaks for guest use, will give you plenty to do, rain or shine. Bring the boat, there's plenty of safe parking onsite (or park up inside the four-bay garage if you prefer). Within 10 to 20 mins drive is access to 4 other lakes (Rotoiti, Rotoma, Okataina and Tarawera). Waitangi Soda Springs is just along the road for a hot soak after a day out on the water. Rotoma cafe, bottle store and petrol station is only a 5 minute drive. The Hinehopu Golf Course and Emery General Store are less than 10 mins drive in the other direction. Kawerau 15 mins, Whakatane 40 mins and Rotorua central 30 mins away, all an easy drive. Property sleeps 10 comfortably, with room for a couple of extras if you need. Linen package available at extra cost, or just bring your own. We offer a simple yet comfortable, no fuss, laid back holiday pad for you to enjoy with family and friends. Kennedy Bay is a safe community with a mix of permanent living residents as well as holiday baches. We hope you will love it as much as we do.

The host shared information quickly and was friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful and the accomodation perfect for our needs, teenagers loved the hangout space under the house. It was quaint just the way we like. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

The communication from Kim was excellent. Our enquiries were answered immediately. The property was just as described and the view over Lake Rotoehu was outstanding and the property exudes feelings of the family bach of years past. The open basement with pool table and open space is a real asset on wet days. Lake Rotoehu is a quieter option to Rotoiti and Rotoma but they are only minutes away. We caught trout !!

Family weekend away

An affordable way for extended family members to share weekend together with enough beds and space for all to be together. Exactly as advertised, basic kiwi bach, well supplied and extremely clean!

Great house for two families

The house was good for two groups and dogs. The deck and lawn were fenced. The garage area is a great place to hang out on rainy days. The cottage was good for the children though was very basic and the kids weren't keen to use that shower. It's important to note that the lake has been flooded to the point that there is no longer a jetty or area to walk around so we had to drive out to do any activities, which was a shame. One half of the road was flooded too and could be a worry if there was heavy rainfall. Such a shame as the area is beautiful.

Communication

We are all,very disappointed with the communication around road closures around bach access. We were not told that the road from Rotaheu to Rotoma was closed and that we could not easily access the road to Kawerau. In my initial booking I advised the bach owner that we were having an early family Xmas and that we would be bringing our elderly relatives who have dementia and cancer through to the bach. The road being closed meant that we had to do a six hour round trip from the bach to Kawerau to pick them up and drop them off again four hours later. It was a total loss of valued family time and petrol money. It also had a huge in pact on our elderly families health. The detour of the main road being closed and detour through the shingle road was sent to us to far to. The kids were unable to go to the hot pools for a swim and we had planned lunch at the Old Trout Cafe however this was not due to the road closure. I would suggest that the bach owners be more upfront around road closures, had we had known we would have pushed our trip out until the road was open. It was a long trip from Hawkes Bay and disappointing that extra travel time was necessary.

Great place to relax

We had a lovely stay, despite the flooded lakes and it being winter. Basic bach, but comfy and cosy with the heat pump. Lovely view of the lake and bush. We also enjoyed the garage with the pool table and darts. Kim was great with communication.

Family trip

Kim was quick to respond to any questions and she was also flexible with check-in and check-out times. The house was clean, comfortable, well equipped and has beautiful views over the lake. Check-in and check-out were easy. We enjoyed our stay.
