Nestled in a lively garden on a wooded acreage on Vancouver Island, the Garden House is a charming home away from home. Bright and airy, with your own spacious private outdoor area; enjoy BBQ's or outdoor fires, a quiet cup of coffee communing with the resident herons and deer, or just bathe in the sights and sounds of our little private forested acreage. Very peaceful location and a wonderful host

Great location, close to so many beaches, coffee shops & restaurants. Hobby farm, well stocked kitchen & we were able to buy fresh eggs for our breakfasts. The bed was comfortable and the suite was nicely decorated with a mixture of old vintage and new. Enjoys our stay very much!

Anniversary getaway

We were surprised to find out it’s a basement suite. Driving in, the first impression was quite disappointing. It was untidy outside. Also, the suite was damp and had a musty smell. The king size bed was a fold out and the mattress was creaky and didn’t have good support so we switched to the other bedroom (which has a window in the carport). The towels were thin and has seen better days. Also, the Teflon frying pans were not safe to use because of the peeling Teflon. Otherwise, the private outdoor area was nice. And the suite was spacious with some nice decor choices. Dagmar was kind and willing to help when we needed it. She had left a bouquet of roses for us when we arrived. Hopefully this is helpful for her moving forward.

Smart tv was good but you have to have the apps on your phone to access it.

Amazing

Dagmar is such a sweetheart! She gave great instructions on how to find the place (very easy). The place was beautifully decorated, and very modern. The bathroom was incredible (there’s a towel heater, which I didn’t know what a thing)! The dogs are so sweet, and the gardens are gorgeous. She even had orange juice in the fridge (I don’t know if that was for us, but I definitely had a glass). We didn’t spend any time there, other than to sleep and stuff, but it would be a great place to hang out. We were probably very boring guests. Hahaha. Thank you Dagmar, and family! When we come visit, again, we will be back!

Dagmar was a great host to her quaint suite and amazing gardens. She was helpful with options for things to do in the area and giving directions to places we needed to go. Her suite was very modern and nicely decorated with a nice and private patio for relaxing on. We had a fantastic time there, and it was a good home base for different things we wanted and needed to do between Nanaimo and Parksville. Would highly recommend staying here. Thanks Dagmar!! 😀

Terrific times in the Trees…

We so enjoyed our stay! Dagmar met us, showed us around her place and introduced us to Luka the guard dog (lol, he’s a sweetie 😉) plus her daughter and grandchildren over our weeks stay. The kitchen area is spacious, with a good microwave/stove/oven combo and a nice table setup. The area is super quiet! There is a lovely space to enjoy your morning coffee or evening BBQ or nightcap outside that is a nice just for you. Deer wander out of the trees regularly. Sleep is easy to come by in the large queen bed with the mattress pad on. Morning does come early, so be ready for bright sunshine at 6 AM. The only thing that may help that is black out drapes in the master bedroom. Thank-you so much Dagmar!

Petra is a mum to three busy young children, who have all grown up on the Island. Dagmar is a gardener extraordinaire and beloved "Babcha" to three grandkids. When we came to the west coast a decade ago, we fell in love with this stunning island and started growing our own slice of paradise. We have formed a mother-daughter team to share our beloved corner of the world with our visitors.

By turns enchanted with visiting deer, herons and other wildlife; lively with the laughter of children, crowing of roosters and play of our acreage dogs; magical with the crackle of a late evening campfire on hot summer nights; or brooding and cozy with the sound of Vancouver Island rain pattering on the window; the Nanoose Garden House is the very opposite of sterile hotel accommodation. No day is like the other, but they all offer a charming, beautifully appointed home for you to return to from your Vancouver Island adventures.
