Michael and Winnie were delightful and talented hosts. You find Michael's artwork displayed around the accommodations that brings a lovely personalized touch to their place. Michael was there to greet us warmly, providing us with anecdotes about the Cape Breton area and their property. We'd highly recommend this choice to rest your head.

Absolutely loved this cabin! Extremely clean and well supplied. Beds were very comfortable and the view was gorgeous. But even better, our hosts were amazing!!! Michael, his wife and their son went above and beyond to be sure we had everything we needed. Then went even further to help us get a forgotten item back. I can’t say enough good things about them!!

We had a lovely stay! Michael and Winnie were lovely and attentive hosts. They made great suggestions for a nice hike on their beautiful property, and to a wonderful distillery and restaurant for a great dinner! We spent our first day exploring Beddeck, and our second with an incredible drive around the Cabot Trail.

We’re back from a most relaxing week at the Forest Lake House, and can confirm that all the positive reviews are indeed true! The only thing that surprised us was that the lovely hosts literally live next-door, which actually is a bonus. Winnie and Michael are a delight, and their well-appointed property reflects their sunny sense of style and artistry. It felt almost as if we were the first to move in. That’s how clean the house was when we opened the door. The location is ideal for those who’d like to explore the island. But there were days we simply stayed “home” to enjoy the incredible view and the quiet life on the lake. Internet service is excellent for those who wish to stay connected, and you can still watch your favorite show on a 65” TV. We tend to be pretty discerning when it comes to where we stay, and the Forest Lake House has easily made it to the top of our list of vacation homes.

Beautiful location, didn't have a change to go in the water but the building was clean, lots of blankets and fully equipped kitchen, was nice to have a BBQ and A/C on the main floor too, upstairs was good, no A/C but a fan was nice to have to keep the air moving

This particular guest made changes to his reservation and arrived one day earlier than expected - as result, I didn’t meet and greet him in person and his group took full control of the Forest Lake House, canoes, kayak, picnic tables etc without once consulting with us or reaching out to communicate … his 4 star review is unfortunate as we provided a 5 star accommodation and 5 star service not to mention the brilliant 5 star lakefront location!

Excellent and friendly

Beautiful property on the lakeside, but it’s about more than just the quality of the accommodation. The hosts have considered every possible comfort and thoughtfully provided it, a fire pit, chairs, canoe and kayak, great WiFi etc. We had a wonderful 3 day stay, and would love to come back sometime soon.
