Modern amenities and tasteful decor, create an ambiance of relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a fun family adventure, Ambury Retreat provides the ideal retreat for your stay. Please note this property is part of a two block unit and we offer the front unit as rental accommodation.

Ambury Retreat is located in Merrilands, New Plymouth.

Just a short distance from the city center (7min drive - 3.6km) , guests can easily explore the vibrant cafes, restaurants, and shops that line the streets.

Nearby, the iconic Coastal Walkway beckons with its stunning views of the coastline and Mount Taranaki, providing the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls or bike rides.

From Ambury Retreat, you can easily access the Huatoki Walkway within a short distance, either by walking or by a brief drive. The walkway provides an excellent opportunity for leisurely strolls, jogging, or simply immersing oneself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

For nature enthusiasts, Pukekura Park offers lush greenery, tranquil lakes, and beautiful gardens to explore, while the nearby Egmont National Park boasts majestic forests, hiking trails, and the awe-inspiring presence of Mount Taranaki itself.

From the end of the cul-de-sac you walk up to the local pub the Stumble Inn. In this little shopping complex you will also find a New World, Pharmacy, Fish and Chip shop and a local hairdresser.

Guests can easily access a variety of attractions that showcase the beauty and culture of New Plymouth. Explore the vibrant arts scene at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre, or immerse yourself in history at the Puke Ariki museum and heritage center. Fantastic accommodation

The house was immaculate. Everything you need was there. The bed and linens were luxurious- it was hard to get out of bed in the mornings!A true home away from home.

Warm and cosy

Very cosy, well keep property. Stayed in middle of winter - the house was warm, beds were snug, and the amenities were all in good working order. Very quiet at night for sleeping. Close enough to town for the purpose of our visit. Would definitely use again if venturing to New Plymouth. Hosts were fantastic to communicate with.

Womad weekend

We really enjoyed staying at this property. We were visiting New Plymouth for the Womad festival and it was lovely to stay in a quiet place, but within walking distance from the venue. The location is perfect and it has everything one could need for a relaxing getaway.

Perfect place to stay

A very enjoyable stay. The house was lovely and had everything we needed. Very clean and well furnished. The hosts were very easy to deal with. Would definitely book again.

Wonderful!

No expense has been spared in the setup of this beautiful 2 bedroom space. You have absolutely everything you could need, and all of it is of the highest standard. We were so comfortable, warm, and content to just hang out at the property. It was away from the city nestled in suburbia so would need a vehicle to get around but it was only minutes from everything you'd need.

Outstanding!

Great location, close to centre but very quiet on dead end road with lots of birdsong. Very new property, warm and sunny, all new appliances and kitchen fully equipped with pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, and some basics already there, like spices and sugar and coffee/tea, oil etc. Awesome beds: firm with crisp sheets and beautifully decorated with lovely art and furniture. Extra blankets etc in wardrobe but did not need them even through it was cold outside. Bathroom contained all the necessities but extras like shampoo, body wash, room freshener etc were much appreciated. Ironing board and iron available. Easy to tidy up, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, rubbish bins already had folded spare bags ones in the bottom. Rubbish easily sorted in the large bins outside. Easy off street parking. We’ve had dozens of stays in New Plymouth, and this is one of the nicest places and most well organised place we’ve been in. Thank you, 10/10!

Fabulous and Comfortable

A clean, comfortable and well-presented dwelling. The location was perfect for a family wanting to explore and enjoy the wonderful culture, food and outdoor adventure New Plymouth has to offer.

No Privacy

The venue was very clean, beds extremely comfortable. Beautiful linen towels complimentary lotions etc Immaculately kept and all kitchen requirements excellent Our main problem was there is absolutely no privacy at this property It is like being a goldfish in a goldfish bowl The washing machine sounds like it still has the travel transport bolts in it It basically walks it’s self off the shelf with five articles of clothing in it The windows need tinting or curtains so that everyone is not looking at you. At every window you have house above looking in. We didn’t read all the way through to see that there was a joining flat at the end of this accommodation. If wth is was stand alone in another area with a washing machine that worked this would have been the perfect private setting.

Great listing.

Everything was genuinely amazing. It's a great location and a great space that looks exactly like the photos, with all the amenities you might need at such a low price. The entire house was extremely clean and comfortable.
