Villa Vanisia is nestled among the lemon trees on the
hill of Acicastello, where the scent of orange blossoms from the
citrus trees fills the air with its
intoxicating fragrance. The flower-filled garden overlooks the
sea and the Gulf of Catania, and then further
away, all the way to the Bay of Syracuse. The villa
is furnished with period pieces, with meticulous attention
to detail; the large windows
look out onto the garden and the sea.
The living area
The four
bedrooms inside the house
are cozy and quiet, each with its
own bathroom—one of which features a shower,
sauna, and Jacuzzi. The two
outdoor bedrooms open directly onto the
garden and both have
separate bathrooms. The built-in kitchen is
complemented by a fully functional wood-fired oven
. Outside, there is
also a barbecue area for
outdoor cooking. The private pool, with
ample space, is fenced in, making it suitable for
children, and overlooks the lemon grove; from the pool,
the view stretches across the Gulf of
Catania all the way to Augusta.

, 20 minutes from the airport, 45 minutes from
Taormina and the Alcantara Gorges, 40
minutes from Syracuse, 90 minutes from the Villa
Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, and
about 2 hours from Agrigento. If you’d like to
spend a day at the beach, the
beach resorts along the Catania cliffs are just
a few minutes’ drive away (5–10 min).
Also just a short distance away is the
Norman castle of Acicastello at
, perched high above the sea, and the marine reserve
of the Faraglioni of Acitrezza, the town of
“Malavoglia” by Giovanni Verga. About
a 45-minute drive from Villa Vanisia
, the breathtaking scenery of Mount Etna
is definitely worth a visit.
