Brixham is England's busiest fishing harbour, with a proud maritime history and makes a fantastic place for a holiday in South Devon. A popular destination with walkers, daytrippers, fishermen, rock climbers, naturalists and historians, making it one of Torbay’s top ten most visited attractions.The harbour is the main focal point of the town, but in recent years it has also become known for its arts scene and there are several galleries and workshops which are lovely to spend an afternoon browsing. The restaurants, as visitors might expect, mostly specialise in the local seafood brought home by the fishermen, and there are plenty that are well-regarded, some offering stunning sea views. Beach-lovers won’t be disappointed, as the town boasts several beaches, from the main Breakwater Beach to the quiet and secluded St Mary’s Bay.

Visit Agatha Christie’s Greenway House and Dartmoor with its tours and quaint villages. Fine golf courses are also just a short drive away. Dartmouth and Salcombe are roughly 40 minutes and an hour away by car, both of which have charm and special attractions to offer. Make the most out of the local area by starting your adventure in Paignton, then visiting Dartmouth and Totnes via steam train, riverboat and bus. A fabulous way to enjoy these special places without having to worry about traffic, parking or anything bar relaxing and enjoying yourself. Visit Torquay on the Western Lady ferry or take the 'Round Robin' trip to the bay. If a day building sandcastles on the beach sounds more appealing, the extremely popular sandy beach of Broadsands is accessible by car.
