Fab cottage and area.

Lovely traditional cottage with bonus of open fire. Beautiful location with great walks from the door and lovely pub next door. Will definitely come again.

Thank you for your review, the Dales are very different in all seasons and beautiful in many different ways. In winter whatever the weather there is always a warm fire and cozy cottage to relax in. I'm glad you loved your break, whenever you get the need to visit again, just give a shout!

Great location for waking and exploring the area

Cottage was fine, the best thing being the location, being able to walk from the cottage is great. Definitely a quirky cottage with lots of character.

Great, quiet location. Lovely walk right outside the door. Well equipped. Lovely clean bedding. Lovely helpful host. Perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!!

simple summer break

lovely cottage in lovely location with good things immediately close at hand. Cottage was clean and comfortable. We would happily stay here again.

Fantastic location

Perfectly located to explore the Dales. Walks right from the doorstep. Lovely views from cottage. Nice pub next door. Quiet, peaceful location. The cottage was cosy & comfortable.

Fabulous location and cottage

We had a wonderful time visiting this glorious location. Such beautiful scenery on the abundance of walks all just outside the front door. We enjoyed lovely meals in the local pubs nearby and at Simonstone Hotel within walking distance. The cottage was perfect for our family and cocker spaniel. Everything you need for a break away in The Dales.

A family week in Cissie's Cottage

We had a lovely week, the cottage and location are idyllic. We'd been warned about the small size but it wasn't a problem (no doubt helped by perfect weather) though maybe a bigger baby and large dog might have been a bit much! We would definitely recommend it.

We have stayed in this property several times and it is a delight. It is very traditional so if you prefer luxury and all the latest mod cons it might not be the one for you ,but if you appreciate cosy charm and a perfect location it makes a fantastic relaxing base.

Nice little cottage in great location

A nice small little cottage in a great location. Easily kept warm with the coal fire and heaters. Comfortable and equipped for a short stay. Could have been cleaner, e.g., bin lid and dog hair stuck into rugs. Near to shops and cafes in Hawes. Great scenery around.

It's like stepping back in time,it's a warm and cosy house. The location is breath taking for the walkers amongst us.

Fantastic

We have just enjoyed a 5 night stay at Cissys. Its an absolute gem of a place. The host communication was great The walk into Hawes is fabulous, we have a dog and hes loved it The Green Dragon is fantastic pub , great food and drink and very welcoming We had a red Squirrel visit the cottage every morning We cannot wait to stay again

Another great visit

This is a superb location for walking and relaxing. This was our second visit and we’d love to return. Walking over to Hawes is easy and there’s everything you need (including a laundrette) there and plenty of places to shop, eat, and drink. The Pennine Way is on your doorstep and there are lots of lovely walks you can do straight from the cottage and even the Three Peaks are all within 30-45 minutes drive.

Peace and quiet.

A quirky, cosy, country cottage, well situated in a peaceful, rural village with the simple requirements for a comfortable and simple relaxing stay. A step back in time.

We'll be back!

We had a lovely time at Cissy's Cottage (apart from the weather). Two nights was definitely not enough. The cottage was clean, the bed was comfy, we had everything we needed and a lovely view through the rain. We love quirky places like Cissy's Cottage, so we'll definitely be back.

Wonderful location

A lovely little cosy cottage in a wonderful spot: Pennine way and other paths literally outside; 20 metres from a lovely little beck for the kids to paddle in and 15 minute walk to a pool you can dip into further upstream; sheepdog demonstrations on a Thur 10 minute walk away; easy walk into Hawes for plenty of shops, ice cream, pubs, etc. Lovely to have a fire to dry off in front of after getting caught in the rain. We would come back again this summer if it wasn't all booked!

Excellent location and atmosphere for relaxing and walking.

Great little cottage with 2 good size bedrooms.Cozy living room with real fire. Small kitchen area, but it has everything you could need including dishwasher and washing machine.30 minute scenic walk to Hayes which has shops, cafe’s, market etc.A couple of doors down from the Green Dragon pub and entrance to Hawdraw Force waterfall. Despite Proximity to the pub etc. the cottage is very quiet and private.Lots of interesting walks right on the doorstep.

What a hidden gem!

Tucked away in the wonderfully sleepy village of Hardraw, we spent our week exploring local walks (you can litterally walk out the back garden!) eating ice cream from the cafe over the bridge, catching an end of the day pint in the village pub and meeting plenty of lovely Dales folk. Mrs Metcalfe was friendly and helpful with all our questions before hand and the place was cosy from the moment we walked in. Couldn't recommend a better spot to explore the Dales from, and we're looking forward to being back next year!

Exceeded expectations

Despite constant rain this property was an ideal getaway in a lovely setting. The kitchen had everything we needed. The lounge was very comfortable and the fire was a real treat. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom more than adequate. We had a superb walk to the waterfall only minutes away. The rain made this a spectacular experience and a must see for anyone visiting this area. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at this charming cottage. I look forward to returning and seeing the area at a different time of year.

The beauty of the dales is constantly changing, all weather and season related! It is amazing to see the power of the rivers and waterfalls in full spate. Even a wet walk in made more worth while knowing that you will be returning to a warm cottage and a welcoming fire.

Lovely cottage outside steps very dangerous need re concreting and levelling fell once but was okay. Could do with some comfy garden chairs to sit out and enjoy the sun. Pub not ready to do meals which was a shame but did enjoy the break

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The outside steps have found their own level after century's of use, they are the original flag stones, but we will have a look and see what we can do. The chairs are on the way, it's been so wet this spring that they haven't been needed! Hopefully the pub will get back into full swing again, but there are lots of other pubs and fantastic eating places around. May is a lovely time to visit the Dales, but if you want to see what they are like in another season, you will be very welcome back at Cissy's

Idyllic Countryside

Great setting, plenty of walks right from your doorstep. Real fire was brilliant, took me back to childhood. All equipment you need is there and plentiful. Had a great week just chilling out.
