A quick seven minute drive up to Main Street and you have your pick of world class shopping, dining, spa-going, art viewing, golfing and musical entertainment. After a long day enjoying all that the Highlands area has to offer, you can sink back into the easy comfort of the Hideaway, entertaining outside under the stars or snuggled up in the family room with a family game night or movie selection.

The Hideaway blends mountain charm with modern conveniences. The original 100 year old structure was lovingly maintained and enmeshed by a contemporary build out in the 1990s, the prior owners created a low key, livable home that feels perfectly suited to the Highlands lifestyle.

Recent renovations and upgrades have been designed with the modern traveler in mind, including designer bedding and contemporary art, Roku-connected entertainment options, truly high speed internet and sleek bathroom and kitchen spaces.

An open floor plan in the kitchen allows for ease of conversation and entertaining guests in the adjacent dining room. A large farmhouse table invites delicious meals and long conversations. The living room has comfy couches, a large low table

The downstairs bedroom and connecting bath provide one level living for any guests with mobility challenges. and a recent upgrade to the downstairs bath included transforming the tub into a zero entry, custom-tiled shower. The “Bunk Room” and the master bedroom are located up a short flight of stairs. The two upstairs bedrooms are connected by a small but fully functional bathroom. Each room has abundant windows for natural light as well as accessory heating and cooling options so guests can tweak their personal temps to their liking.

This private and restful home is located in Horse Cove, a magical Highlands valley located just seven minutes from Main Street but surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, with easy access to hiking trails, waterfalls, mountain biking trials, and bouldering routes. This home, perfect for entertaining, has a screened front porch, large front and back lawns, ample parking, a fire pit and double hammock for swinging in the breeze.

Your host is a longtime Highlands and Horse Cove resident, ready to provide suggestions for dining, shopping or even secret hiking spots should you desire.

This home is kept well stocked for guests with paper products, cleaning supplies, plenty of extra linens and towels, toiletries, basic condiments and coffee supplies.

An expansive backyard, partially fenced, is perfect for children and pets alike, and the outdoor seating/dining area, hammock, grill and fire pit are perfect for enjoying time with family and friends.

Come stay with us at the Horse Cove Hideaway and experience the “true” nature of Highlands!for games or casual meals and a reclining armchair. A large TV with Roku streaming capabilities hangs over the mantle. The cabin has a gas fire log system which is currently temperamental. No wood burning for inside fires and at this time we cannot guarantee the gas fireplace will be fully functional - but we are working on replacing with something much more user friendly!
