It's summer! Idyllwild is sunny and warm.
Although the cabin(s) are updated with modern amenities and conveniences, it is still a 1938 uninsulated structure. There are fans in each room, and an air conditioning unit in the main room (though I don’t list that amenity because it’s not as robust as central air).
Namaya Sky (means to feel the sky) is nothing short of a magical escape that sits on an acre of private property on the edge of the mountain. Once used as a summer reprieve by the Cahuilla Native Americans of the desert, it backs up to the National Forest boundary, so it feels like the whole mountain is yours.. And the view... well it will take your breath away.
There are 3 cabins on the property. The main cabin, Maqi House (means 'gathering place'), has a fully equipped modern kitchen, gas fireplace, large common area, 3/4 bathroom (shower, no tub) and a bedroom with a king (or two twins if requested in advance).
The backside of the cabin opens to a roomy deck with a gas fire pit that looks out on THE VIEW.
Along the deck, it's a short walkway to the upper cabin, Kiff Kichi (means 'sudden burst of joy' house), which has a queen bed with wonderful views.
The lower cabin, Wiwish Cabin, is not included in the rental unless otherwise arranged prior to arrival and not available in winter.
It's possible to go your entire stay without seeing another human being if you choose. Or take a short drive (3 miles) to the most adorable town of Idyllwild.
Spend your days hiking trails (including the famous PCT) or hang back and barbecue on the grill. At night, gather around the fire pit, gaze at the stars, and roast marshmallows.
