Just don’t do it
Upon arrival, the garage walls & ceiling were open and still under construction. The side gate to the home was unlocked with no way to truly lock it, i have video evidence of the garage & this side gate. We brought these concerns to our host’s attention and expressed that we did not feel comfortable parking our rental in the unfinished garage but also have elderly parents that we did not want to trip over the sheetrock. Also with the side gate being unlocked we did not feel safe staying in the bnb. There was also a mustiness & odor inside the home. Also the floorboards were creaking as we walked around and even the stairs did not seem safe to use. The host offered to have maintenance come by, but there was no way he could fix all of that by that night. The maintenance guy even apologized to us for not having the garage finished by the time of our stay. The host asked us to cancel our reservation but VRBO advised us not to cancel the reservation because that would mean we would not get a refund if the cancellation is done on our side. Just save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere. This property is not up to the standards of a home you want for your family vacation. If anything, it only checks the box of a place to lay your head at night. If that’s all you need.
