From the moment you identify the entry to the ranch off Farrington Highway, through the approximately 1/4 mile drive up the hill, passing saddle horses and polo ponies, peacocks, roosters, cows and wild pigs, and then drive through the green gate to the property itself, you know you are really on vacation!
We spent a week at Lost Ranch -- three families, three generations -- and the set-up was perfect for us. The older kids (5-10) loved having a pool for when the grownups couldn't get going early enough for the beach. The surfer in the group got out every morning. The old folks :) enjoyed the lanai while rocking the babies and watching the swimmers. Plenty to do in the area (hiking, surfing, swimming, shopping, dining), but we really enjoyed the property itself -- easy trip into town for shave ice in the afternoons smiling at all the frazzled tourists who came out for the day.
The home is quite well equipped -- and the kitchen was easy for two or more to cook at one time. One evening we had a private chef for a small dinner party, and he was delighted with the facility.
If you are looking for a place to enjoy family time and really feel like you are AWAY, this place is perfect. Beautiful views, well appointed, plenty of room for 10 including rambunctious kids. The families are already talking about a return trip. Mahalo
