This home has been one of the best rental units we have ever stayed in over the decades of our travels! It contains everything you can think of to make for a wonderful stay. It definitely has one of the best appointed kitchens, making preparing meals easy.If you are planning to visit Yosemite and the surrounding area, this home perfectly located. It is very close downtown, restaurants, other shopping needs, and the sites.The owner is very responsive to any questions or concerns, and helpful. One our enjoyments has been the neighborhood critters, such as the resident deer, squirrels and birds.

This was such a great house for us! After spending long days at Yosemite, we enjoyed coming back to this “oasis” in Oakhurst. The house was clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and nice patio. We absolutely loved the waterfall out the kitchen window. We definitely recommend staying here!!!

A perfect stay. We were three couples. Very comfortable and cozy home. Very close to a variety of grocery stores. A short drive to Yosemite.

This property exceeded all our expectations!!! The kitchen was so well stocked with lovely dishes, tons of flatware, lots of pots and pans, cups. Loved the Fall cloth tablecloth on the dining table. A large selection of plastic ware for use outside while in the Hot Tub, which we used every night.The rooms were beautiful and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bedside touch on and off lamps with charging stations were greatly appreciated. You really thought of everything, example: illuminated toilet seat in Master suite for night. The high-definition TV was exceptional for watching football. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the patio. The wildlife was the icing on the cake! The deer in the front yard, birds and squirrels in the gorgeous backyard were so entertaining!We found Pleasant Pines Retreat to be such a clean, comfortable and homey property in a quiet neighborhood and would highly recommend it. Great value for the all the amenities.

The host was very welcoming and communicative. We booked last minute, and Dan was great. The house is beautiful, with a well stocked kitchen, and nice location, which was close to Oakhurst but felt secluded enough to feel like a getaway. The list of things to do at check out was also very reasonable. Additional pluses: multiple large air filters, hooks for towels (a small but important thing that many rentals don’t have), and the hot tub was perfect.

This place is beautiful they have a gorgeous backyard with a hot tub and waterfall and it’s so relaxing ! The house is so nice and has anything you would need they thought of everything ! Totally worth it and what a nice get away !

Amazing place! The home was just beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The three bedroom and 2 baths fit our needs perfectly. All of the rooms were spacious with comfortable furniture that matched the decor and wasn’t a mishmash of old pieces. The home was immaculately maintained and no signs of pests or bugs in the house or outside for that matter. We loved the backyard with the waterfall and hot tub, it’s a great place to relax after a day of hiking in Yosemite. The property is close to town so shopping and restaurants were close enough to be convenient yet far enough away that your neighbors weren’t an arms length away. The property had plenty of parking. Dan and Vera were the best for communication and checking to see if we needed anything. We would most definitely stay here again if we ever went back to hike Yosemite again. Don’t hesitate, stay here and you won’t regret it!

Family time

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a perfect location. The house was well stocked. We enjoyed hiking near Bass Lake, driving up to the snow. Southgate Brewery and Reimer’s for ice cream. We are already planning a return trip for next year. Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful home.

Close to Town

Perfect for short 2 day stay since property is in a neighborhood with families right next door. Anything longer try for a country property. For short stays would definitely return. Close to Mariposa grove and Oakhurst shopping center for convenience.

Perfect… in every way!

The home was absolutely gorgeous! 15 minutes from Yosemite entrance, had all the extras which made you feel like you were home! Super clean, hot tub was awesome, solar lights that lit up the back yard with the waterfall was just stunning! If you are coming to Yosemite it is a must stay!!!! We loved it!!!

Great Yosemite location

Property is very nice and well equipped. We had everything we needed. Location is great, about 35-40 min to Yosemite gate. Oakhurst has a couple of grocery stores that are well stocked. We ate in most of the time, but there are several restaurants and fast food options.Only issue is cooling sysytem for house couldn't quite compete with 106 temps, but that is probably expected. We really enjoyed staying at this properly.

Beautiful Home with welcoming hosts

Our family stayed almost two weeks at this home. It is a beautiful setting and the outdoor areas are wonderful. Each day we saw deer in the front and back yard.The kitchen is the most well stocked out of any home we have stayed at. Perfect for those that like to make some meals at home. The location is great with many grocery stores and restaurants just down the road. Oakhurst is central to visiting many charming small mountain towns plus Yosemite is about an hour away. Bass Lake and the casino are also very close. The host Dan had great communication and was available when we had a question. The entire house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. I highly recommend staying here.

Perfect central location and comfortable

Great location and home for us to explore Bass lake and Yosemite. Kitchen is well stocked, especially the coffee pods and tea selection. Plenty of utensils, pots and pans to cook comfortably. The only thing to keep an open mind is the swamp cooler during peak heat hours between 1pm and 5pm where the interior could get in the lower 80s. But the cooler is very effective through the night and early morning hours as it will keep you cold. We loved the hot tub and the waterfall, both features we thoroughly enjoyed. Fanrastic spot!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in the small town right outside of Bass Lake & Yosemite. We have rented vacation homes before but never one so well equipped with everything that could possibly be needed being away from home. Beautiful house with a waterfall in the backyard that we enjoyed while looking out at the local wildlife including deer & wild turkeys. There is a great hot tub that we enjoyed as well. The house is fantastic & very clean. The master bed was extremely comfortable & while I normally don't sleep well away from home, I did here. We had an opportunity to go to Bass Lake for some fishing with our young boys & a day trip to gorgeous Yosemite as well! We hope to return in the near future!

Exceptional home!

We had a lovely stay at Pleasant Pines. Pictures were accurate and the kitchen was well stocked. Unlike many vacation rentals this home has high quality, comfortable furnishings. The small, fenced portion of the yard was perfect for our two small dogs and the balance was great to explore. The patio was peaceful, and we had the waterfall running for most of our stay. The neighborhood was quiet, and the home is only 1 mile from two large grocery stores and multiple dining options. This home is just a small drive away from the South entrance of Yosemite, Bass Lake, and a casino. Lots of options for activities. As a side note, I was traveling with my senior parents and this home was perfect for those with limited mobility as there are no stairs and both bathrooms offer walk in showers. I look forward to staying with Dan and Vera again.

pleasant indeed

This is a pleasant, secluded house and we would rent again. Location is a couple minutes from town center; circular driveway is great. Checkin was as easy as it gets. We liked the spacious, well-supplied kitchen at the opposite end of the house from the bedrooms so you can converse or work early/late without bothering the sleepers. Spacious, clean bathrooms. Beds were a little soft for my liking and pillows were a little firm but that’s a matter of personal taste. The house is filled with interesting gadgets (electronic couch, smart clocks, 4K TV, wireless waterfall control, Nest thermostat, hot tub connected to wifi, alarm systems). The various outdoor video cameras reduced the sense of mountain seclusion somewhat, but I understand hosts wanting to keep an eye out. Wifi didn’t always work but there was enough Verizon LTE coverage for backup. We rented during cold stormy weather and didn’t use the outdoor fireplace area but will do so if we come back in another season.

Hi Christopher, Glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you come again in the future! Just so you know, only a couple of the cameras are real. It is a very safe neighborhood but the previous owners had put all the cameras up, several of which are fake, and also installed the alarm system when they built the house in 2008. We don’t monitor the cameras regularly. They are mainly there for security when the house is not occupied. And here is a tip for you if you return: The middle bedroom has an adjustable air bed so you can make it firmer or softer to your liking, if you don’t mind sleeping in that room. Also some of the decorative pillows are softer and can be switched out for sleeping on. Thanks booking with us and again, I hope you book with us again in the future!!

Great house with cooling issue

The house was beautiful and the pictures were accurate. Kitchen was well stocked. Wifi worked well. Nice to have the waterfall. Rooms were clean and plenty of towels were provided. The hot tub only has 1 working jet that is powerful - the others are very weak. We did experience a problem with the cooling system. The owner had work done on a generator at the house just before our arrival and when we checked in the evaporative cooler was not working. It was 85 degrees in the house. Called the management company but they could not get anyone out to look at the cooling unit for 2 days. So we suffered in 85 degree heat in the house for 2 days. In my opinion the rental company should have a maintenance person on standby even on holidays - for goodness sake we pay enough in fees to have service. In the end they did give us 50% off the nightly rate for the 2 nights we were so hot.

Hi Dara. My apologies for your inconvenience on your stay with us. As far as the hot tub is concerned, all jets are working fine. They can be turned on and off by rotating each jet individually. Also both pumps need to be turned on with the control panel for all of the jets to work. Obviously a previous guest turned most of the jets off. Next time try turning each jet that you would like to have turned on. We do have a handyman on call but it was a holiday weekend, (4th of July), and our handyman was away for the holiday weekend. The cooling system problem needed to looked at by an AC tech. and it was also the first 100 weather of the year and all the local AC tech’s were busy with other jobs already and were not available immediately. The only fee that we charge besides the nightly rental is a cleaning fee and a pet fee if you bring a pet. All other fees are charged by VRBO or are taxes paid to the county. Breakdowns are out of my control and I think you were fairly compensated with the discount we gave you. I hope we can host you again and thanks for choosing Pleasant Pines Retreat.
