As soon as you turn off Highway 59 in Gulf Shores and start your final journey out shady Fort Morgan Road, you can feel the worries of the world start to slip away. Fifteen short minutes puts you far enough out to "get away from it all," but still within reach of all the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area has to offer!

FiveSails of Gulf Shores is in the Resort Conference Centre/Plantation West development of Gulf Shores Plantation. You'll have built-in breathing room away from the high-rise developments. But don't think the amenities list is short!

This ground-floor unit offers the convenience of bypassing any elevators or stairs, and the trip from the parking lot to the front door is step-free. If the parking spot is available in front of the patio, you can back your vehicle up and unload luggage and groceries right over the railing!

Step through the door of the unit, and you'll find yourself in the comforts of a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit within steps of the beach. The first room on the left in this split floor plan is just right for the younger members of your traveling party (or young-at-heart!) Furnished with a full bed plus a set of custom-made solid wood bunk beds, this room is ready for those looking for a fun time at the beach! A flat screen TV with HDMI hookups is available, and the variable-speed ceiling fan has three LED light color choices and a timer.

Let's talk about the bunk beds for just a second, because they truly are special. Steering clear of big-box retailers, FiveSails chose College Bed Lofts in upstate NY to build a custom set of bunk beds. Our specifications included adding an extra railing on the top bunk and iron pipe grab bars at the top of the ladder for extra safety. We dropped the bottom bunk closer to the floor to add extra headroom for anyone sleeping on the lower level. We added kid-friendly no-slip treads on the ladder stairs that glow in the dark! Finishing off the nautical look are boat cleats on the upright to hang drawstring bags, lanyards or hats. A large bath in the hallway is just right for guests in this room.

Continuing through the foyer and past a hallway pantry cabinet, you'll enter into the open living space, which is angled toward the beach! Watch the surf out over the sand dunes from the well-equipped, expanded kitchen, thanks to a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. You have seating for your entire party with a dining table hiding a bench underneath for space efficiency, and three swivel counter chairs. Seating is rounded out by a sleeper sofa (queen memory foam mattress) and a swivel chair. Next to it under the large flat-screen TV is our game cabinet filled with board games, cards, puzzles and some books. Don't forget to sign our guestbook before you leave!

Beyond the living area is the serene master suite. Sleep peacefully in your sturdy, steel-foundation king bed, with ample storage underneath for luggage. Tucked around the corner is your private bath. An HDMI cable is stored neatly away behind the dresser if you need to connect a device to the flat-screen TV in this room.

Throughout the condo, you'll find additional touches targeted to the traveling families. Nightlights and path lights, USB ports for charging, and plenty of cookware, dinnerware and glassware (plus plates, cups and placemats for the littles). Rounding out the stocked kitchen are a toaster, drip coffee maker, blender, hot water carafe, small crock pot and hand mixer.

Step outside on the patio and you're treated to a view of one of our resort pool complexes and boardwalks over the dunes to the surf. Seating for four is ready for your morning coffee, and you'll find a storage box with some beach chairs and toys.

Venture out from your beach haven to the west side of our building and enjoy the two courtyard pools. They are two of six total to enjoy across the complex! You will also have access to hot tubs, charcoal grills, a volleyball pit, eight tennis courts, a putting green, a basketball court, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Sassy Bass Island Grill is onsite in the Plantation Dunes building for grabbing a bite to eat (breakfast is especially good). And if golf is your thing, you can choose a leisurely walk or short drive to the award-winning Kiva Dunes public course located next door.

And finally, the beach! We're nestled between undeveloped land owned by the state of Alabama land conservation department to the east, and beach houses in the Kiva Dunes development to the west. Enjoy beach chair service in season, or just pull up your favorite spot of sugary-white sand. There's plenty of it, and it's just steps away, making it easy to run in for sandwiches or a bathroom break.
