The neighbourhood is the village-like “rue de Charonne”, where you will find a quintessential blend of Parisian cafes, bakeries, restaurants and boutiques. Home to Septime and Clamato, East Mama, Paul Bert and Dersou (just to name a few!) You’ll try to wander down the inviting, winding street but the sunny (or heated in winter) terraces will be too tempting to pass by without stopping for a glass, or two. Meanwhile the magnificent Opera Bastille is 10 mins on foot, and you’re also close to the Marais, The Jardin des Plantes, the famous Rue de Rivoli, and within easy reach of the Seine and her walkable banks, dotted with cafes and terraces.
To sample iconic Parisian life, you have nearby the Marché D’Aligre; start your weekend by strolling through this famous indoor and outdoor food market, sampling cheese from around the country, an independent label wine or fresh fruit for the season. The apartment is well connected by metro (Ledru Rollin, Voltaire and Bastille) so you’ll have no problem dashing around Paris and all her most iconic spots.
Also on your doorstep is Paris’ best kept secret - Le Coulis Verte, Paris’ answer to The High Line. A raised, planted park which meanders above the rooftops of Paris takes you through beautiful skyline gardens and leads you all the way to the Bois de Vincennes - the huge forest in east Paris home to lakes for pleasure boating, endless picnic spots, a chateau and the Paris zoo!
