Nice View; Clean Accommodations
Aside from a few "dings" mentioned below, overall we really enjoyed our stay at Lake Break. The accommodations were clean - aside from lots of spiders outside (it is a lake afterall), we didn't notice any bugs inside. The kitchen was well equipped and an ample supply of clean towels was provided. The bed was comfortable.
We were looking for a short, very relaxing getaway and that's what we got - 4 days which was perfect. We rented a tandem kayak from Lake Gaston Outfitters and used it frequently. If you stay longer than 4 days I would recommend using a motor boat to appreciate the lake.
The boat house and dock were in good condition with the exception of the wood stairs entering the shallow part of the water which require repairs. We spent a lot of time out there on the dock.
Our stay started off on the wrong foot walking into a 97 degree apartment and the lengthy exterior stair with some loose boards. The central air took about 8 hours to bring the place down to a decent temperature but we were comfortable the rest of our stay.
We did see the stairs in the advertisement but didn't realize the extent of them or the frequency we would have to use them. If you have elderly or very young children in your party be aware of the stairs.
The back deck on the house is awkward to get to so we just hung out on the boathouse deck.
Other comments: The house number was not marked or visible from the street; Wifi and TV passwords were not noted in an obvious location.
