Cassio’s Cottage - A private and cozy little place under PoCo’s dark skies

Take a break from the noise in this calm and cozy cottage! An old hunting camp turned family getaway, just a minute drive down the road from Potter County Stargazing Tours, 12 minutes from downtown Coudy for shopping, dinner, a movie, or swimming at the town pool. It’s about 15 minutes to Patterson and Cherry Springs State Parks, 30 minutes to both Sizerville and Lyman Run State Parks, an hour to both PA Grand Canyon and Kinzua Bridge or stay close and ride the ATV trails nearby. When you get back from whatever daytime adventure you choose, you’ll be ready to get toasty around the fire pit, recline in the outdoor chairs and just look up at the dark sky! The space is not too big, not too small…perfect for feeling “together” on your getaway, but still have some space to yourself. Nobody’s getting lost inside this place, but there are woods behind and near the cottage and it’s on 6 acres of land to explore, if you’d like. ATTENTION ONE NIGHT REQUESTS: If interested in booking just one night, check availability using a two night search and send me a message. Depending on the day, I may be able to accommodate you.

Cemetery tending

Small, but cozy, comfortable and clean accommodations. Nice outdoor space and many activities provided by great host. We felt very welcome.

Comfort with everything you need.

Proximity to PA Grand Canyon allowed a hike, food at Wellsboro, church & food at Coudersport. Enjoyed the Cottage very much for family meals, games, hot dogs at the fire, cozy bedrooms, Northern Lights in place of stars on the rainy nights. Host had little things that made a difference. Loved it!

A nice place for a family getaway

I stayed here for some star gazing under the dark skies. I enjoyed it so much, I brought the entire family back. The host is very friendly and answers any questions quickly. The place is cozy and feels like home - there were five of us and it was just the right size. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Cassio’s Cottage to our friends.

Cozy, charming, and delightful!

The cottage is very cozy, and comfortable. We went in the end of December so it was cold but the host provided heaters to keep us warm. Lovely space with big open kitchen and eating area! The Host is very friendly and helpful! We had a great stay and hope to go back in warmer weather.

I’m originally from “the home of Little League,” Williamsport, Pennsylvania. My family moved to Coudersport 18 years ago and although it doesn’t have all the conveniences you get used to within a short distance when you’re from a bigger town or city, we’ve grown to love the peacefulness of the area, the lack of traffic, the kindness of the people in town and being part of a small community that comes together to help each other. There’s plenty to do outdoors and it’s beautiful here. I love sharing the cottage with people who want to get away from their busy lives and just relax and enjoy the area for a few days. It’s a perfect place to do just that.

The cottage isn’t really in a “neighborhood” as much as it’s on a road that has just a few houses here and there, dirt roads nearby to take walks down, it’s a beautiful area to watch a sunset and it’s easy for others to find and get to by just using google maps. :) You really feel like you’re “away from it all” for a little while.

Wat deze accommodatie uniek maakt

This place is a little bit of a throwback in that when we renovated, we retained the cast iron enameled sink top, the old metal cabinets and the bathtub and sink (although, for better functionality, we plan to update their fixtures). We also kept the previous owner’s old hunting and fishing camp decor in the mudroom, because it’s part of the history of the place. Depending on when you grew up, it may give you a little nostalgia for a simpler time. Although we’ve kept some of its vintage charm, we’ve added modern features like WiFi a Roku tv, nest thermostat, on-demand tankless hot water heater, fans with remote controls, a portable Bluetooth speaker, etc. We don’t put the tv up and central in the living room, but it’s light and can easily be put up on the shelf above where it sits, if you want to watch something. If you just want to spend time with your friends or family here and not look at a screen at all (other than to navigate to your outdoor adventures, of course), there are lots of games, puzzles and books if you end up with rain or bad weather and if you’re able to spend most of the time outside, there’s plenty of space and activities here for that too.
