Noce stay

We had a nice stay while visiting our son at AOF. There were a couple of small issues which the owner remedied IMMEDIATELY. Things happen in life which are unforeseen, we appreciated the owner jumping on the issues quickly.

Comfy apt with space

This is an apt in a multi unit home. It worked out ok for us but you can hear the other tenants in the home. Bedrooms are a great size and the eating areas and kitchen/ living room are very comfortable. It rained most of the time so we weren’t able to enjoy the outside area but that looked very inviting. Communications with host were positive and when I had questions or needed anything he made sure it was taken care. This home is very close to a few good coffee shops and 5 min away from Avon Old Farm school.

Thank you for your honest and generally positive review. I was happy to provide the many extra items you requested within a two hour turn around as it gave me a wonderful opportunity to meet you and interact with guests. I am fortunate that this 1800 Avon farm home was grandfathered into a time when multi family homes were still permitted within the town. This property is one of the few legally zoned multi family residences in all of Avon in that it has a formal servants quarters upstairs with its own kitchen, bath and three bedrooms. So, to be fair, it is not an “apartment” but the primary unit in a multi family home. Anyway, I am glad you liked the house and it’s location!!

This is not a private house. It’s an apartment which was not advertised. They do not provide refunds for false listing .

Hello Christina, I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at The Old Avon Village. This property, built in 1800, is a very unique property. This home was built with maid quarters upstairs which conveniently has its own private entrance. Now outlawed in Avon, this property, after being built with these quarters, was grandfathered in as a multi-family property. These two units are separate and private in every way. From the entrance to the patio, nothing is shared besides the spacious driveway in which we have expanded. After hearing of your displeasure that night, I offered a refund but it seems you may not have seen my messages. Best of luck and I am sorry it did not work out. Thanks!

I booked this VRBO to celebrate my birthday with friends. I had already cleared the gathering with the owner in advance and confirmed that no more than four people would stay overnight.The first time the owner arrived was supposedly to bring cookies, oranges, and toilet paper. However, she immediately accused us of smoking indoors after seeing us smoking outside on the front patio. Once we explained we weren’t smoking inside, she showed us a designated smoking area and left.Later, around 8:30 PM, we were all in that designated smoking area (about 10 people total). A friend briefly stepped inside while my sister was in the house, and the owner returned unannounced. She entered the house without notice and saw my friend vaping indoors. She then accused everyone of breaking the rules and made comments implying that, because she was “young once,” she assumed we would damage her property — even though we had taken every precaution to be respectful.Afterwards, she came into the backyard while recording us on her phone and demanded we leave within the hour. This was despite the fact that many of us were under the influence and unable to drive safely.Ultimately, we paid 400 for a booking that lasted about five hours before being told to leave, making this one of the worst birthdays I’ve ever had. I have serious concerns about her entering without notice, recording guests without consent, and forcing us to leave under unsafe circumstances.

“Stay” away. Also note this is a duplex with upstairs neighbors that may be nocturnal.

Arrived at 3:50pm (check in at 3:00 according to confirmation) after a 13 hour drive. Both beds not made, dish washer still running like someone just left. Emailed for owner to call asap. Received call within a few minutes from property management. Told them beds were not made and no Keurig like was promised would be there. Was then told that check in time isn’t til 4:00 pm and last guests checked out “late”. We left property to go to grocery store. Noticed garage that is attached to home has no door, no roof and a cease and desist order attached to hanging live wires. Also side entrance to kitchen is in wide open garage. Went to grocery store, came back and beds were at least made. Was instructed that the keurig was an oversight and would bring one back. Then noticed holes in walls and ceiling that we also informed management person of. Noticed the property has one smoke detector just above fire place that was not working due to very old/expired battery and found another in one of the bed rooms. Told management team of this, got an excuse and was told they would bring one but never did. At least in morning the next day a new keurig coffee maker was left on outside table. Had also let them know unit had no wash clothes at all and they instructed they would bring some with coffee maker. Instead they left 2 rolls of paper towels. We went to nearby store to purchase some wash cloths. This is a duplex with an upstairs unit that contained renters that were up most of night..

This guest was rude and not respectful or courteous. We are in the process of remodeling the garage which is a work site and this guest had no business strolling around our property, looking for trouble. He insisted on having a Keurig maker and, when we didn’t have one, prop manager went to store and bought a brand new delux keurig maker delivered to his door with a box of gourmet pods to boot. A thank you? Not this guest. He took down our two working smoke detectors and took out the batteries to check for expiration dates. Wasn’t sure if I was renting to a guest or code compliance officer, but this guy was one tough cookie!
