Welcome to Fish Fantasy - it's always a great day to be at the beach!

Fish Fantasy is a small, bright beach house on the quiet east end of the Bolivar Peninsula, with water in both directions: the ocean to the east at sunrise, and the bay and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west at sunset. Our family built Fish Fantasy, and we have spent two decades building houses on the Bolivar Peninsula.

Be clear on this before you book: Fish Fantasy has 1 bedroom and sleeps 4. Guests 3 and 4 sleep in the open living space.

THE STREET
Fish Fantasy is on Waco Drive, a quiet dead-end street about a mile long with almost no traffic. Crabby Cove, our other house, is right next door if you are traveling with friends.

THE VIEWS
The covered sunrise deck faces east. You look out over rows of colorful houses on stilts to the ocean, and the sun comes up over the water. Fish Fantasy is not a beachfront house - it is a quiet one with a lot of water in sight. The sunset deck, off the bedroom, faces west over a wide green marsh to the bay and the Intracoastal Waterway, where the sun goes down and the barges pass.

INSIDE
Fish Fantasy is up 28 outside stairs. The entrance door is on the side of the house and opens into a little hall. Straight ahead is an apartment-size stackable washer and dryer. The bathroom is to the left, and the bedroom is past it. To the right is 1 bright open room for the kitchen, dining and living, with windows on 3 sides looking out over the marsh.
The kitchen has granite countertops, an electric range and oven with the microwave above it, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a blender, a toaster, a drip coffee maker and a single-cup pod coffee maker. A table with 4 chairs is next to the kitchen.
The living area has a couch, a love seat, and the daybed with a trundle where guests 3 and 4 sleep.
The bedroom has a king bed, a ceiling fan, a closet, and a glass door onto the sunset deck, so you can carry your coffee out and watch the sun go down. Every room has room darkening shades, and there are Roku smart TVs in the living room and the bedroom.
The bathroom has a shower stall with a fixed shower head and a handheld one, a sink and a toilet.
Heat and air come from 2 wall units, 1 in the living room and 1 in the bedroom, plus space heaters for cool nights. Hot water comes from a 30 gallon electric water heater, so give it a little time to catch up between long showers. There is also an iron and a vacuum.

THE COVERED SUNRISE DECK
The covered sunrise deck has a table with 4 chairs and 2 loungers under a solid roof. It has no stairs off it. The only way on or off is through the house door, and we built it that way on purpose. Please keep an eye on children out there.

OUTSIDE
The side yard is fenced on all sides with a latching gate, and the stairs up to the house are inside the fence, so your dog can go down the stairs and out into the yard, and there is a swing for the kids. Under the house is a table with 4 chairs, a charcoal grill, and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water for rinsing off the sand. It is an open-air shower, so plan your swimsuit accordingly.

PARKING
Park under the house and on the driveway. There is room for 3 vehicles, or a vehicle, a trailer and another vehicle. Please do not park on the street.

PETS
Adult pets are welcome with prior approval. Up to 4 adult pets are allowed. Pets must be house-broken and at least a year old.

THE BEACH AND THE BIRDS
The beach is a walk from Fish Fantasy, and the beach walkover is at Legers Street. This end of the beach is quiet and uncrowded, good for shelling and surf fishing. The Bolivar Peninsula is on the Central Flyway, one of North America's four main bird-migration routes, and the marsh around Fish Fantasy makes the decks a good place to watch birds.

AROUND THE PENINSULA
Restaurants and stores, including The Big Store, are a drive up Highway 87 in Crystal Beach. For a day trip to Galveston on the free ferry, we have a little trick that gets you across in about half an hour instead of hours, and we'll share it once you're settled in.

HOUSE RULES - FISH FANTASY
By reserving this property, you agree to the house rules below.

1. The primary renter must be 25 or older and must be present for the entire stay.
2. Maximum overnight occupancy is 4 guests. Fish Fantasy has 1 king bedroom, and guests 3 and 4 sleep on the daybed and trundle in the open living space.
3. Gatherings are welcome with prior approval, up to 10 people - family get-togethers, small weddings and birthdays. The event count and the sleeping count are separate. We do not host prom, graduation, or bachelor/bachelorette-type parties.
4. SMOKING: No smoking or vaping inside the home, and nowhere the smoke or vapor can drift back in - that means not on the decks and not near any door or window. Smoking is fine at ground level under the house, well away from the doors and windows. Please put butts in the outdoor trash. Any evidence of smoking or vaping inside the home, or anywhere the smoke or vapor reaches it, results in a $300 fee.
5. PETS: Adult pets are welcome with prior approval - no pets under a year, and pets must be house-broken. Dogs of any size are welcome, up to 4 adult pets. The pet fee is $100 per stay for up to 2 pets, plus $50 per pet for up to 2 more. Any pet on the property pays the pet fee, whether it stays inside the house or outside. Pets stay off all furniture and beds - please bring your own sheets or blankets to cover anything your pet will be on. Clean up after your pets inside and out. Undisclosed pets result in additional fees, and a $150 fee applies if the pet rules are not followed. Trained service animals as defined by the ADA are exempt from the pet fee; emotional support, comfort and therapy animals are treated the same as pets.
6. Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are by request.
7. Please leave the ceiling fans, the wall air conditioners and the dehumidifier running at all times, including at checkout.
8. Before checkout: start the dishwasher, start a load of towels, empty the refrigerator, and take all trash out to the outdoor cans.
9. Do not pour grease, oil or food waste down any drain. A repair and cleaning fee will apply.
10. Indoor furniture, bedding, pillows, linens and towels stay inside the house.
11. The charcoal grill stays at ground level under the house and may not be taken to the beach or off the property. No fires of any kind on the decks.
12. Park under the house and on the driveway only. No street parking, and please do not block a neighbor's driveway.
13. No RV hookups and no electric vehicle charging at the house. Either one results in an additional charge.
14. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM. No amplified outdoor music after quiet hours. At any hour, day or night, please keep the noise at a level that never carries to our neighbors or bothers them.
15. Please supervise children on the stairs, on the decks and in the yard.
16. Obnoxious behavior will result in immediate removal from property.
17. Guests are responsible for any damage during the stay. An additional cleaning or damage fee may apply if the home is left in poor condition.
