My husband, daughter, and I stayed at this Florence location during a recent trip to Europe. After several hotels in other cities, we were looking forward to a little more space, doing some laundry, and making some of our meals. We chose this apartment because the location was both an easy walk from the train station and all of the most notable attractions. It also advertised a washer and kitchen.
On the positive side, the apartment has a unique layout and a simple, cottage like feel. It also has air conditioning, which was wonderful since the temperature each day was very high (100F/37C). If you book this property and think of it as a place to sleep and clean up after a long day out and about in the city, you will be happy here.
But be aware that the washer looks to be from the 1950's or 60's, is tiny, and doesn't clean clothes very well. It actually didn't drain. We had to scoop out the water that sat in the bottom of the cage-like apparatus the clothes go in. The microwave doesn't work at all. After 5 minutes on max power, food was still cold.
You will also be given a set of 4 color coded keys. To unlock the second gate the key needs to be put in the lock and then taken back out just a bit before you turn it for it to open. Also, the buttons on the wall unlock the gates as you leave.
Our biggest complaint was the fact that the apartment was not clean when we arrived. Maybe this was unusual, but hair in the bidet, sink and shower, as well as dirt on the shower floor and dried toothpaste in the sink was not a welcomed sight. Also, smelly old pizza boxes had been left in the kitchen garbage cans and the kitchen sink had food remnants in it. At first we were told that we would still be charged a cleaning fee, but after we explained how the other advertised amenities were not usable, the cleaning fee was waived.
Again, if you just want a simple, unassuming place to stay in the heart of Florence, albeit a bit funky smelling, then this is the place for you.
