Relaxing stay!

This property is great! It’s not all new and fancy which means you can walk in and feel right at home. Kick off your shoes and walk to the little man made beach and stare at the water! During the week it’s very quiet and relaxing. Close to everything like restaurants and shops as well as state parks! The owners are kind and the neighbors are nice.

Hidden Gem Grandma’s Cottage

A hidden cottage that had a nice location. Convenient to The ferries to Put-in-Bay and Kelly’s island. Super nice beach only 15 minutes away. And not far from Cedar Pount. Appreciate deeply allowing the 🐶. Hosts were very kind. Regret not fishing or boating. Thank you!

Little Cottage on the Lake

Only negative was size of bathroom sink. I couldn't use it. The owners were great and treated us nicely.

You guys were just the sweetest! We have struggled with keeping the historic “cottage” feel and modernizing things for years! Many people like the simplicity of our cozy traditional lake house. Great location

The house is in a beautiful location, great for fishing. We caught several nice largemouth bass right from the edge of the property. We also rented 2 docks from the neighbor that were only about 40 yards from the house.The hosts, Jackie and Darin, are wonderful, down to earth people and easy to deal with. The house itself was a little awkward. You have to go through the only bathroom to get to one of the bedrooms which made it a bit strange but with our group we made it work. We didn`t spend much time in the house except to sleep and the beds leave a lot to be desired. That is the one thing I hope for the most wherever we travel, is a comfortable bed. All that said, we had a great time.

Thank you for your kind words! My husband & I have had summer guests at our Little House on the Lake for 23 yrs now! The bathroom/bedroom set up in back is a little different but we really strived to keep the house as authentic & original historically speaking as we could. It’s a just as advertised… a cozy little lake cottage with a beautiful view. It’s been in the family for over 60 yrs & most experienced Lake “cottagers” love the quirky simplicity of it. We have also tried a number of sleeping arrangements through the years & have found it’s a lot like Goldie Locks & the 3 bears… some like soft mattresses, some like firm, some prefer big double sized beds & some prefer to sleep solo in a twin. We always try to accommodate everyone’s needs as best we can. The next time you come out for a stay, let us know your preference & we will see what we can do to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We take great pride in our place & appreciate your input. Quiet and Quaint!

Dear Jackie and DarinThank you so much for your hospitality while we stayed in your cottage. It was a pleasure to meet both of you. While at your cottage, we did enjoy visiting the islands and learning about the area. As I said, it was our first real visit. I’m glad we were there early in the season, because I bet this place is hopping during the summer! The slower time allowed us to get our bearings a bit more. We did have a little rain, but having a day of vacation from vacation was just fine. We were able to do a bit of bird watching thenYour cottage was perfect for our needs. The size made it feel like you were wrapped in a comfy blanket and it didn’t take long for that Ahhhhh moment you described to settle in. The view, the yard and the sunsets were soooo relaxing. The baby geese in the front yard and the fox squirrel scurrying amongst them, gave me a smile every morning. We look forward to returning to the area and staying with you again. Next time with our kayaks! This would be a perfect home base for kayaking Thanks again!

Home Away From Home

We felt very comfortable here, just like home. It is older has character and history, we like that type of place. The size of the yard gave us space to walk our dogs around and not feel like we were on top of our neighbors. We enjoyed the view of the water as we sat on the porch and beach area watching the sea birds and wildlife. It's in a great location and an easy drive to all sightseeing activities and restaurants. We've already talked about going back!

Definitely returning!

Had a wonderful week at this adorable cottage on the best piece of property in the marina! The accomodation was exactly as described and the owners, Darin and Jackie, run the place like a well-oiled machine. Could not have asked for more! If you're looking for a quiet, private little getaway, I would definitely recommend this spot!

Great cottage to relax in.

The cottage was exactly as described and perfect for our family's week away. The cottage has everything you need and the full kitchen is easy to cook full meals in. The location is perfect since it is minutes from Marblehead, Port Clinton, and East Harbor State Park. The lake breeze was great and kept the cottage cool, but there is a good AC unit when we needed it. We hope to go back next summer.

Lake getaway

wonderful property for a family getaway to the lake. the location is phenomenal and is extremely serene. the neighbors were friendly and the neighborhood was great for morning walks. the hosts were very kind and accommodating. we enjoyed our visit and appreciated the use of the host’s home.

Relaxing positive energy❣️

Our trip was absolutely wonderful from the time we pulled up to the time we pulled out!!! Darrin and Jackie are the most friendly people you will meet. The house had a very positive energy to it the minute we walked in we knew it was for us🥰 Wonderful safe neighborhood ~~ the people were very nice and inviting. The view of the lake on the porch is outstanding!!!! Little house on the lake

We had a great time. We come to Lakeside every year for a conference for my husband’s work. We have stayed in several cabins through out the years and this was one of the best. Jackie and Darin were very easy to get a hold of, if needed, and very friendly. We had a lovely stay. Thanks!

Beautiful views at the Little House on the Lake

We enjoyed our week at the little house on the lake. The scenery was quiet and refreshing. There is a dock where you can sun or fish and a small sandy area for kids to play or where you can use the fire pit. The water in front of the cottage is perfect for canoeing or paddle boating and has easy access to the larger part of Lake Erie. The floors and bedding were clean. There were a lot of areas beside, behind and under that could use more attention. I would suggest that you bring additional linens, towels and washcloths. We chose to use the option of having the linens and towels provided ($50) but had to go to the laundry mat to get through the week (there were three of us). There were no linens for the futons. Cottage needs some updating (windows, screens and doors, etc). The kitchen and appliances are tiny but functional. The bathroom sink is a little challenging. The internet service is good. There is a covered porch at the front of the house that is great for morning coffee. We had a nice relaxing stay. It would have been helpful to have had an informational sheet regarding where things were located, how to use the tv and internet (password), what to do with garbage, where to find keys for the doors, contact phone numbers, etc. I was able to get the needed information by contacting or texting the owner but a quick handy reference would have been great. Overall, it seems the little house by the lake is a great for accommodating vacationers who desire a fishing/water-sport cottage with easy access to Lake Erie.

We are so glad that you had a nice stay. I apologize if there were things that you felt were not unavailable to you. I do feel the need to address a few things though so there isn't confusion for future guests. We keep a large stash of additional linens, towels and blankets for futons in the large drawers below the other linen cupboard so no one should ever have to go to the laundromat during their stay. The WIFI password is on the WIFI box itself as are instructions for all tv usage on the DVD/cable boxes. We also keep a ton of brochures of area restaurants/businesses on the table & in the front room. The home is an original cottage that has a long unique history so we choose to keep the antique windows/doors. The size & images of each room are posted on the website to make sure our guests can see it is a summer lake cottage & not an overly large place. Our contact numbers are also in the notebook on the table and keys hang right on the key rack at the front door. I try to be very thorough when I greet our guests & cover all details. Maybe you did not catch some of the info at that time. We also make ourselves available 24/7 for any questions/concerns as we did during your stay. I wish I would have been contacted if there was anything further needed & to clear up any confusion. We take great pride in hosting guests & do everything possible to make their stay as perfect as possible. Should you stay with us again in the future, I will be sure to point out some of the details that I believe were missed during your stay. We hope you were able to relax a bit & let our Little House on the Lake provide a short get away from the stressors of life for you and your party. 😊�

A little slice of Paradise...

We rented the Little House on the Lake for a family reunion two weeks ago and it was perfect. The huge yard, fishing out front, fire pit in the midst of the sandy area, comfy porch furniture, and the view made for many "it doesn't get much better than this" moments.

Value and convenience

Great location, dogs loved it, and we must have caught 50 fish between us all week just from the edge of the property. Tiny kitchen fridge but as long as you bring a cooler for your beverages it’s a short drive for ice to keep it replenished :)
