Frustrated and Disappointed
The first issue was the check-in time. All communication we received prior to our vacation made it clear (at times in bold print) that check-in time was 3:00pm. We live about 6 hours from Myrtle Beach and have 3 young children, so we planned our trip accordingly to give us time to travel, check-in, unpack, go to the grocery store, put away those groceries, eat dinner, and perhaps give our kids a little time at the beach. However, upon arrival to the management office at 3:15pm, we were told our unit was not ready yet and it could be as late as 7pm. Regardless of the lack of communication in preliminary emails regarding the need for additional cleaning time, this is unacceptable. During previous vacations to Myrtle Beach in other condos, we have never been told we could not enter the room at 3:00pm, when the check-in time was. The second issue came when we finally received the message that our room was ready, which was over an hour after we arrived. It is our expectation that, given the amount of money we paid, when we arrive in our condo, our vacation begins. However, to our surprise and frustration, we found that we had to spend time taking the linens out of a bag and making up our own beds. Again, we have never had to do this at any other condo rental. Finally, when I booked this room, the website and the profile of the room said that a washer and dryer were part of the amenities, but it failed to clarify that the washer and dryer were communal appliances to be used by everyone on the floor of the building and cost $2.50 per load. I would have NEVER booked a room here had I known this and the lack of clarification in the amenities to this fact was extremely frustrating, misleading, and burdensome, as we came prepared to reuse bathing suits and towels. I would never recommend this particular condo to anyone and it makes me very cautious in booking a trip where a management company is who I must deal with. In previous trips, I have dealt directly with the owners. Also, beware to others: despite an ordinance prohibiting the discharge of fireworks on the beach, fireworks went off EVERY single night we were there. It was by various groups of people and various times between 9:15pm to 1:30am. It got so bad that I called Myrtle Beach Police to complain, but it did not help. We left a day early partly because of this. Lack of enforcement of this law was very disappointing, as it disrupted our family's sleep.
