Lovely, Well-Appointed Home with Some Quirks
We rent homes once or twice a year in Big Bear, and I can honestly say that this home was the most well-appointed one we've rented. It had amenities that others haven't had, which made our stay that much more comfortable. The location is fabulous, and it's very clear that this home is owned by people who truly love it, rather than people who just own it to rent it out. It's beautifully decorated, and the large family room was amazingly comfortable. We also loved the double decks - one with shade for those who preferred, and one with sun. The view from the upper deck was gorgeous and having dinner at the outside table was such a treat.
One thing that would make this home even better would be if the floors could get fixed. They were extremely squeaky, which made it difficult when some family members went to bed earlier than others (and were then awoken by the "night owls" walking around).
Also, we were surprised by the lower floor (bedroom) layout. The master bedroom shared a bathroom with the third bedroom, and the second bedroom needed to use the upstairs bathroom or walk through the third bedroom to get to the bathroom. There was no hallway allowing access to the bathroom, which we'd never seen in a home. For our family of four it worked OK, but we think that it would be awkward if two families wanted to share the home. This layout wasn't really mentioned in the home description, so that may be something to change to give more transparency to prospective renters.
