Porto Santo is the smallest inhabited island in the Madeira archipelago. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean, in the extreme southwest of Europe, just 500 km from the African coast, 1000 km from the European continent and an hour and a half flight from the city of Lisbon.

Discovered in 1418 by Portuguese navigators, this archipelago is formed by the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and also by the uninhabited islands of Selvagens and Desertas.

It is very soft, light and not very abrasive, and is mainly composed of calcium carbonate, in the form of calcite, which gives it very particular thermal properties.

In addition to the beach, the city of Vila Baleira tells stories and legends from a more or less remote past, such as the Casa Museu where Christopher Columbus once lived.
