The Hilltop Hideaway, known as "The Hill" in our family, is a cherished, special place where so many great family memories have been made. The Hill is situated on 42 beautiful, East Texas acres overlooking a 4 acre, stocked private pond. The pond is stocked with perch and bass. The elevated deck is a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful scenery any time of the day, but is a special place in the evening when the sun is setting!
Feel free to explore the 4+ miles of trails, enjoy a game of horseshoes, sit with family down by the pond and experience the beauty of East Texas!

-If you are visiting the area for Canton's First Monday Trade Days, this property is only 20 minutes away from Canton!

The 1520 sq/ft home has 2 bedrooms(one upstairs, one on main floor) and can accommodate as many as eight guests(details listed below). The home has one full bathroom on the main floor and the master bath is located on the second floor. The main floor has ample seating in the dining area as well as in the living room. The kitchen is ready to be used and is fully functional. Plates, cups, silverware as well as various cooking items and utensils are available. Also, a washer and dryer can be used as well.

- The upstairs bedroom(master w/bathroom attached[with shower]), is a king sized bed with premium "MyPillow" pillows.
- The main floor bedroom is situated with a double sized bed, also with premium "MyPillow" pillows.
- The main floor bedroom also includes a comfortable day bed which can accommodate one guest.
- The second floor loft includes a double sized bed and another day bed to accommodate three additional guests.

Great Stay for First Monday Show

This wooded property was beautiful, with a cozy home and a pond/lake. The home owners provided bottled water in the fridge. Also, there was a box of laundry detergent in the laundry room. We enjoyed our stay in this nicely furnished home!

Perfect Getaway

We wanted a long weekend get-away with a chance to pond fish. The Hilltop Hideway did not disappoint! The house was just fine and had everything we needed. An extra star for the excellent water pressure and A/C that works great! We like to fish; but when it hits 90, we like to sit in the A/C! The pond was great too, caught some "pond fish" and a pretty large catfish but we were after the Bass. Over a 3 day period we caught around 30 bass weighing in average of 2 pounds, the largest we caught was 3.5 pounds. Caught quite a few more but did they did not wish to meet us on the shore. They were all put back in for you to try to catch. We also enjoyed watching the "pond mermaid" as she gracefully swam around in the mornings and evenings; The Beaver that is. It was a great long weekend getaway!

Weekend getaway

We absolutely loved the property and the owners were kind, courteous and responsive to any questions that we asked. We were looking forward to a quiet stay in the country and this property fit the bill. The next time we are in the area we will definitely choose to stay here.

Seeing the doe and her 2 fawns down at the dam when we arrived was the perfect start to a wonderful stay. It was very comfortable and everything we needed and more was there. We booked this accomodation for its location during the total solar eclipse and it did not disappoint. 🌞🌘

Greer Family Feb 2024 Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was perfect! Cabin is so welcoming and stocked with all amenities. View in the back is very nice. 2 decks out back that were so relaxing. We enjoyed the Canton First Monday Trade Days weekend. It's an easy drive from this property. Nice small town of Mineola nearby with shops and restaurants. Would stay again...we will be back!

Home is very cozy, clean, and perfect place if you’re headed to Canton. Very relaxing after a long day of shopping. Bummed we couldn’t be at the house more. Amazing deck and walking trails. Highly recommend this place. Great communication with property owners.

Very Nice Place

2 Friends and I stayed for 3 nights to attend First Monday in Canton. This property is about 20 miles away, very easy drive. I would definitely recommend especially if you like to hang out at home in the evenings and maybe do some grilling. Awesome outdoor space. The 3 of us would definitely return.

Absolutely Wonderful

This property was beautiful! Cozy on the inside with seating on an upper and lower deck leading to a stocked pond. Our family had just as much fun fishing the pond as they did fishing at Lake Fork! Josh responded quickly and answered all our questions! We will definitely be returning!

Great Property

The property was very clean and exactly as listed. The back deck was beautiful and the pond wasn’t too far a walk from the deck. There was a kayak and a John boat for use including life vests. It was a very peaceful and relaxing weekend. They also had Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming services.

The Hill

House is great and the views from the back porch or deck was awesome. Pond is beautiful too. Saw lots of birds and a couple of deer. The wild pigs squealing in the darkness, when you shine a flashlight their way, adrenalin rush:) Very secluded. Hiked all the trails. Property is well groomed in all the right places and wild on the rest.

Away from the busy city

We stayed at the property for a week. It was very nice. Super hot that week so it limited our outside activities but we managed. The porch is awesome. We weren’t prepared for the walk down to the pond but we managed as well. The pictures make it look closer to the house but no biggee. My 75 year old dad could only make it down once. We are just out of shape. 😂 The perfect time to go back would be spring or fall. Again, it was just too hot outside even at night. But the house was GREAT!!! A hot tub would make a nice addition. 😉

Do not sleep on this listing!

Me and my fiancé stayed here for our birthdays. When I say this place was so much more than we were expecting, it’s an understatement. The pictures really don’t do it justice, and it offers so much more that you can imagine. The fishing! If you love to fish, or even if you only like it when you’re catching something, this is the place for you! My hook barely hit the water and I was getting bites. We caught so many fish and different varieties, it was awesome! We went Fourth of July weekend, my birthday, we didn’t pop any fireworks of course, but in the distance, There was a clearing and we got to watch the show from the comfort of the back upper deck. Speaking of the back deck, it may have been my favorite thing about this house. We spent a lot of time here, despite the heat. They have 2 huge ceiling fans and it was very pleasant even in the 98deg weather. We are still baffled at how, but, No bugs! Literally came prepared with mosquito spray, and fly swatter in hand, and we didn’t even have to use them once. We figured being so close to the water they would be terrible, but somehow there weren’t any. They have a giant jenga game, we played that a lot. There is plenty of seating areas, large table and lounger, and the view is absolutely stunning! The sunsets, looking out over the lake was breathtaking. I am a big time cook, and the kitchen was stocked with everything I needed. We were mainly getting away to relax and enjoy our time together, but in the town, 6min. away, there were some neat little restaurants, we plan to try next time. They have trails cleared out all over the property, we plan to explore these when we return in cooler weather. The bed, was so comfy, I slept in each day we were there. So many great things about this listing, do not hesitate to chose this property if you’re wanting to get away and relax and feel like you’re away from it all and still be close by stores, ect, or if you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, this place has it all, guaranteed to have a wonderful time.

Great hideaway not far from city

Amazing place to walk around in the trails. Loved the attentiveness of owners and it was just the perfect getaway for a weekend with my mom. Will be staying here again, definitely.

Beautiful

Best view! Great outdoor space for my kids to run around and experience the “country living”. We will definitely be booking for our next trip. Hopefully in the spring or summer to be able to enjoy the pond
