Red Cedar Grove is an open, light-filled cabin nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, just minutes from Bryce Resort – the perfect place for your getaway!

The highlights:

- Stream movies or take video calls on fast WiFi (great for remote work!)

- Drive 10 mins to Bryce Resort & Lake Laura for tons of both winter & summer activities

The Space:
Our family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for couples, families or groups of friends.

The cabin includes:
- Two bedrooms, both with queen beds
- Fully-stocked kitchen with stove/oven and microwave
- Smart TV where you can quickly sign-in to your favorite streaming service
- WiFi that's more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls – perfect for working remotely
- Wood-burning stove to keep you cozy on those cool winter nights (we also have electric heat and AC to keep you comfortable!)
- An outdoor yard game treasure box full of activities for kids and adults: cornhole, volleyball, soccer balls, horseshoes, and many more!
- Brand new hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a long day

Outside the cabin, we also have:
- Huge screened-in porch with a grill
- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

The cabin is also all on one level, so no concerns with stairs.

Please note: the well water at this cabin contains high concentrations of manganese, which can cause the water to have a slightly yellow appearance and sulfurous smell. This is very common in our area. The water has been tested and is perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. In April 2024, we replaced the hot water heater and added a water filtration system -- both of which have largely eliminated any odor from the water. All this said, if you're at all concerned, we recommend bringing your own bottled water. Thank you! :)

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close we are to Bryce Resort (about a 10 minute drive away). The resort has tons of things to do – from skiing and snow tubing in the winter, to swimming, kayaking, and golfing in the summer. And of course, many great restaurants, bars, and shops as well. Plenty to keep everyone entertained!

Comfortable / little outdated

Overall it was a nice place. Some things needed a little extra tlc/ updated. There is very poor lighting in the kitchen would suggest to put some lights around the kitchen. Made it hard to see the food cooking on the stove. Also the bathroom needs to be updated the shower wall are bubbling. I understand that it maybe hard to keep up being that you have well water. But bathroom upgrade would be good. The bedroom beds were super comfortable and the couch was comfortable too. But overall it was very nice, and quiet. The host was very nice and even checked in but Waldo gave us space too. Loved reading their book they have from the past visitors. We made sure we signed it. That was cute touch.

Not what we expected!

I would like to start by saying that we rarely feel the need to provide a negative review and are not high maintenance people at all. First thing we noticed upon entering the cabin was the unfavorable smell of sulfer. When running the water (with an outdated brita filter - that did nothing) it was difficult to stand nearby because the smell was so bad. Next shocker was the horrible rust staining (again from the well water) in the bathroom sink, toilet and shower. We decided right then that we would pick up gallons of water and only used the tap water when we absolutely had to. When informing Tony of this issue the next morning he admitted that the sulfur smell came from the well and "sometimes carries a natural sulfur and we'll look into options to improve". This can't be the first complaint nor do I think it's the first time he has used that response. Next issue was the cleanliness of the dishes due to not having a dish washer. Multiple glasses had a noticeable oily film on them and some of the dishes had particles remaining. We basically washed every item we used to be safe. The coffee maker was another issue (not sure if I will be able to share pictures) but the glass pot was hard to see thru and the part the filter sits in was crusty from lack of cleaning. Lighting in the kitchen area makes it extremely difficult to see during evening hours. Heat in main room is a portable unit that is really loud. I would avoid this place!

Quiet Holiday Getawaty

What a cute cottage! Very clean and cozy. We enjoyed the fireplace and the screened in porch. It rained most of our stay but we did get one dip in the hot tub, which was so relaxing. We cooked all of our meals in the kitchen and on the grill. Very well-equipped kitchen, all the cookware we needed. Well water takes getting used to and the hot tub is in direct view of the neighbors deck, but nothing major. Tony was an amazing host and checked in often and was also very responsive. We'll be back.

Perfect getaway

The cabin is wonderful very clean and well maintained. Loved the hot tub and the fenced-in area for dogs. Very peaceful area and surrounded with amazing mountain views.

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Red Cedar Grove in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
