Hi! I'm Thomas (also known by T.J.) and I'm the host of Steelhaven. I'm a lifelong Michigander and currently reside with my wife and two kids in Holland, MI.
I love traveling and experiencing different cultures around the world. I've visited nearly 40 states, over 30 countries, and lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for two years with my wife. All of these adventures led me to nearly a hundred AirBnB stays as a guest and ultimately opened me up to become a host myself.
Just as hosts for my stays served and helped me so much during my past adventures, I take great pleasure in hosting and helping people explore Northern Michigan. I would be happy to have you as my guest and ensure you have a great stay.

Steelhaven began as a dream three years ago for me. After researching shipping container homes, I became enthralled by their industrial but modern and sleek designs and I was amazed by how creative one could be with them. Additionally, I saw how they truly provided a unique and one-of-a-kind experience for residents and guests. After nearly two years of planning, designing, and constructing, Steelhaven finally became the home we had always dreamed it would be in the Fall of 2022.
Experiencing the peaceful forest surroundings, hearing the morning birds sing, and taking in the many sights and activities in the area, we found that Steelhaven is truly a refuge--a place to escape the busyness and noise of life so you can rest, unwind, and recharge. Ultimately, we hope it's a place where memories can be made and a home you'll want to visit again and again.

The outside is perfect for entertainment and dining with a ground level patio equipped with Adirondack chairs, a wood fire-pit, a gas grill, and a six-person hot tub. A spiral staircase leads you to a spacious rooftop deck on the second floor with outdoor furniture and a propane fire table to enjoy cocktails, food & appetizers, and the peaceful surrounding.
Inside, the home provides a modern and open concept vibe with a touch of tiny home living. The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and comes fully stocked with all the essential items (plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, utensils, pots/pans, etc). for preparing home cooked meals. It also has brand new appliances, including a refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, and dishwasher.
A spacious six-person dining table with sights of the patio and trees is ideal for enjoying meals and playing games. Guests can also unwind in the living room area with an electric fireplace, comfy seating, and a Roku TV. The home has hi-speed Starlink satellite Internet for streaming your favorite movies and tv shows.
Each bedroom comes with amazing views of nature, light blocking shades/curtains, comfortable euro top mattresses, cozy supima cotton linens, and ample storage under each bed for suitcases and bags. The two bathrooms have sleek design features that include contemporary tile finishes, walk-in showers, and storage for your toiletry items. Towels, hand soap, hair & body wash, and toilet paper are conveniently provided. Guests are permitted to use the washer and dryer for laundry needs.
