Amazing Views
Great space for a couple to enjoy some quiet time and great views. The space was amazingly clean and felt brand new. The hot tub was a perfect addition. Communication was timely and the owners are extremely friendly. We will return!

Shambhala
We loved our time at Shambhala. As we entered the community, and made the drive up to the cottage, there was the gift of peace and excitement at the same time. Shambhala was everything we hoped for with cleanliness, furnishings, a beautiful deck, awesome views, incredible hikes and, when we desired it, the gift of silence. Located between Highlands and Cashiers is the best of both worlds. Zemo was the perfect host and blessed us in so many ways. Phillip and I are looking forward to the next time we’ll be at Shambhala.

Perfectly located between Highlands and Cashiers
Adorable and well appointed lower level apartment with lovely view and hot tub. The owners are super friendly and respond to questions promptly. We had a lovely stay and it was the perfect base camp while we explored the surrounding areas.

Perfect weekend getaway with amazing hosts, a cozy home, and spectacular views!
Not only were the hosts very warm and friendly with thoughtful and helpful suggestions of things to do, but the house was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our holiday weekend stay! The cottage is located very conveniently right in between Highlands and Cashiers so being a relatively short scenic drive from both places was lovely though we equally enjoyed coming back to read, play games, and curl up with hot tea to watch the rain from the living room. The view from the porch was spectacular especially with the mountain Laurel in bloom and mist on top of the mountain! While we didn’t end up taking a dip in the hot tub during our stay, it looked very tidy, clean, and had an excellent view so I’m sure it would’ve been amazing. The pillows and bed were plenty comfy and the shower was great (I definitely loved having good water pressure and a nice big shower). We got by just fine for the weekend with the kitchenette which was stocked with some tasty local jam and plenty of great tea :) Overall, our stay was exceptionally lovely and we would most definitely return if we end up back in the area!

Siobhan and I have lived a graced life these past five years since we met and settled in together. It's a "second-time-around" relationship for both of us, and building our tiny cottage in this little corner of paradise has been emblematic of the whole journey, as we discover new places in the world, and in our own hearts. "Shambhala House" means "place of piece," loosely translated from Hindi, and it has been a place of peace and joy for us. We live here (in the upstairs unit) half of the year, and -- since we can both work from anywhere -- wander to other places for the rest. When we are home, we love to meet and greet our guests, as we love welcoming and taking care of people... but we can also make ourselves completely invisible, when quiet and privacy is the priority!

We each have two kids, ranging from 18 to 24, and we love both visiting them and having them up to the cottage to stay. Siobhan is in Supply Chain Management, and Zemo is an Executive Coach and Management Consultant.

Hvorfor verten valgte dette overnattingsstedet

Siobhan has loved this little corner of the Appalachians for decades, and previously owned another property in Cashiers. When she first brought Zemo up to see the area, we stumbled upon this new neighborhood of tiny cottages when only the first couple units had been completed and sold. We were both swept away by the magic of the location and of the beautiful feel of the community being created. But it was when we stood at the top of the knoll, on an as-yet-uncleared lot that we knew that we just had to live here. The raw grandeur of Whiteside Mountain, with its 90 degree sheer rock face, was the kind of sight Zemo had most loved growing up on the West Coast, and it was a delight and a shock to discover it right here in North Carolina. And so here we built, and here we invite you to come share in the peace and beauty.

Hva gjør dette overnattingsstedet unikt?

As far as I am concerned, there is not a more beautiful mountain on the entire East Coast, and to be able to look out the window and see it, or sit up on the deck with drinks and take in the vast expanse of the valley... well, that is all the benefit I needed to sell me on this place! But throw in the easy access to hiking / biking / walking trails, and the lovely restaurants and shops of Highlands and Cashiers, and you realize how many benefits this area has. No light pollution means the Milky Way shines bright at night, and to be able to take than in from the hot tub, with not a single other sound to be heard... heaven!
