Welcome to Casa Colibri, your tropical home away from home

Casa Colibri is a beautiful 2-story home that allows you to be on the same level as the tree tops, and watch tropical nature from close by. From the covered patio, you can enjoy the sounds of the surrounding forest. Tropical birds like Hummingbirds and Toucans are daily visitors, and if you are lucky you can watch them from very close by

On the first floor, you will find the master bedroom with a spacious en-suite bathroom and a lovely private outdoor seating area: a guest room with a bathroom, and a laundry facility. A wide sturdy staircase takes you to the 2nd floor with a well-appointed kitchen, a cozy living room, a half bath, and a wonderful patio with a small infinity dipping pool. From the patio, you look straight into the jungle, and often you can hear the howler monkeys deep in the forest

Casa Colibri is nestled in the mountains of Atenas, a small super cute authentic town with all the sweet Costa Rican characteristics. A 20-minute drive takes you to downtown Atenas where there is a wide variety of restaurants, grocery stores, delicious bakeries, and a weekly farmers market.
At a 15-minute drive you can access highway 27 "Ruta Del Sol" which leads to Pacific beaches, passing to other small towns like Orotina which is famous for its abundance of fruit stalls. The central location is perfect for exploring Costa Rica on day trips.

At check-in, you will meet our multilingual (English-Dutch-Spanish speaking) property management team. They are ready to welcome you to Casa Colibri and will do everything within their power to make your stay a great success.

As an additional service to our house guests, they offer a fee-based airport pick-up and drop-off to help you avoid the potential hassles involved in the transitions into and out of your time in Costa Rica (great especially when you have late travel plans, but a nice comfort to have in any event). They also provide car rentals (delivered to the house) and tours to all corners of the country, including the Poas and Arenal volcanoes, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a private Catamaran Sailing tour, a visit to an Organic Coffee farm, all kinds of adventurous activities (f.e. zipline, rafting, ATV, horseback riding, fishing, sailing, hiking, etc) and tours custom made to our guests' requests throughout Costa Rica.

Pamper yourself and make arrangements for grocery delivery (stocking fridge at arrival), catering, private chef at the house, wellness treatments, and more. Casa Kolibri and its staff are set up to allow you to enjoy the most incredible vacation stay; stress-free, surrounded by nature and tranquility.

Casa Colibri is new on the rental market and therefore does not have any reviews yet. Be one of the first ones to book this beautiful home and you will be assured of a spectacular vacation.

For guests that stay longer than 10 days, weekly cleaning is included, and our wonderful housekeeper Helen is excellent.

Lovely Time in a Lovely House

First, the house and grounds are lovely: The house is beautifully tiled, and the layout is quite comfortable, tho I wouldn’t recommend it for small kids, because of the stone stairs. The living room opens onto a lovely patio with a small but deep dipping pool, also lovely. Nearly every section of the house was spotlessly clean, tho the drink cabinet could have been dusted, and the bathroom “rain shower” heads were partially blocked; my partner, a plumber, fixed them easily. Weirdly, for such a grand setting, the kitchen was skimpily outfitted, especially with regard to silverware, dishes, and serving spoons, and other handy cooking utensils. Also, there were only two dish towels. All that is easily handled, and I’m sure it will be, over time. The beds were excellent and so were the bed and bath linens. Beach towels (& pool toys!) are also available. We had been told we wouldn’t need AC—the house has none—but it wasn’t quite true, at least for us. We wished we had it, at least in the two bedrooms! With temps above 90 every day, and some humidity, it got uncomfortable in the late afternoons, tho there were fans. Our property and tour managers, Sandra, Klaas, and Marco, were hard working and friendly, and did their best to help us, tho there were a couple miscommunications, but we worked it out. Be forewarned: Visitors over 70 are not permitted to rent a car in CR! We wish we had known. Nonetheless, we had a lovely time in a lovely house. Recommended!

It was OKAY

The property is absolutely beautiful Beds are a little hard We had a big yellow toad that was in the house and made noises/ mating calls all night and early morning. Oven doesn’t work we didn’t have internet for two out of our four nights which was difficult as property located in the mountains and we had absolutely no service

Your own private resort

Great stay in an incredible house. The outdoor area with the pool is outstanding, and provided exceptional morning and evening wildlife viewing, which included macaws in the tree just a few feet from us daily, and a troop of capuchin monkeys, which would come through the trees. It is a bit of a steep road with some potholes, but a 2 wheel drive is fine to reach the property and once there you won’t want to leave. We spend about 60 nights in rentals per year and this rates in the top 5%.
