Big Pine key does not have Street Lights in residential neighborhoods, so your view of the stars on a clear night will be magnificent. Please keep an eye out for the Key Deer when driving. These diminutive deer roam freely all over the island and have little fear of humans. Feeding of the Key Deer is unlawful.
Big Pine Key has a Winn Dixie, and 2 full-service Drugs stores, and of course, fishing equipment and chum. Your boat can be launched for a modest fee at the nearby Old Wooden Bridge Marina. They will also rent space to park your boat trailer. (HOA does not allow trailer parking in the driveway for longer than 2 weeks).
Big Pine, and the other nearby Keys offer a number of restaurants and bars.
Key West is about a 32-mile drive south. It offers multiple dining and drinking establishments and is famous for its nightlife. Spend at least 2-3 days in Key west to visit it's many attractions, like unlimited Duval Street shopping, the Hemmingway House and the Audobon House. You may enjoy the view from the Lighthouse Museum or taking a ride on the Conch Train. And of course, sip a beer at Sloppy Joe's Bar, while toasting Earnest Hemmingway.
Have fun on your Keys Vacation, and always exercise caution in everything you do. Rest assured; you will come visit Big Pine Key again!
