This house is even more charming than the photos! Beautiful home, comfortable amenities, property is steps from the lake, feels private and is nice and close to town. We want to come back in the summer when we can get out on the lake!! Fabulous spot!!

We really enjoyed our stay; the cabin is very beautiful and cozy, well-built and well cared for, skillfully decorated, and with a lovely lake view. Our bed and linens were very comfortable, Because the house was so solidly built, noise does not travel much within the house, and the all-wood floors do not creak at all. If the weather cooperates (we were there after Labor Day and it was a little cool/rainy), the screened porch is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view etc. The kitchen is very well equipped with virtually anything a cook might want. The hosts were very kind and immediately responsive to a couple of issues that arose. One bonus was that after a few days of bathing with the water in the house, everyone's hair was unusually soft and shiny -- I would love to know what's in that water!The lake itself was very pretty to look at, and quiet when we were there (again, after Labor Day), although it's basically a big 'bowl' with not that much for kayakers to to explore, which we like to do, and the water was a little murky. We very much enjoyed the sunset views from the fire pit, and the included firewood. The one downside for us was that there is a small lumber processing facility right next door, cutting logs into firewood. We could hear the chain saws intermittently (fortunately not all day or every day), but when running the noise was significant. There was also construction noise from the lot on the other side of the house, but I assume that was temporary.

This home was spotless! Beautifully decorated with antiques and wonderful art! Sooo comfortable and soothing. The property also was beautiful and so quiet. Sandy beach for the kids to play on was a plus! Comfortable beds and furnishings! It fit our family of 7 with room to spare! The screen porch was also amazing g! It could not have been better!

We had a great stay at Runamuck Roost. Ample space for our 3 couples and 4 children. Very well-equipped kitchen. Beyond the control of our hosts, the water in the lake was low (so we hade more sand beach!), too low to launch our deep-V boat, but Runamuck Rides was very cooperative in renting us a pontoon boat, so all turned out well. Runamuck Roost gets a big Thumbs Up from us.

This was our second time staying here. It is tastefully decorated and so cozy. The lot is great for yard games and watching sunsets. The beach is great for kids, sandy and no weeds for swimming. Unfortunately, the lake was so low that we were unable to dock our boats, which made for inconvenient fishing-having to launch our boat each time we wanted to go out. In addition to not being able to fish as much as we would have liked, this was particularly frustrating because the driveway makes it difficult to back in and out of with a trailer. There is a canoe for guests to use, however we would love to see some additional water toys like kayaks or paddle boards.The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals for the whole family. We spent every night in the screened in porch enjoying cards, games and the cool, lake breeze. Overall, this a really great place to stay. Thank you so much for having us!

Loved this property! Everything was more than expected, clean, charming and enough space to host the entire family! Every detail was thought about and we didn’t need to bring a thing as they had everything from spices in the drawer, coffee in the cupboard, soap and shampoo in the bathrooms to firewood for campfires and sticks to roast marshmallows on. Oh and can we talk about sunsets on the lake? Breathtaking!! Joan was a delight to work with and quick to respond to all my questions. Such a relaxing and refreshing stay, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

5 Stars – Perfect Family Getaway!We had a wonderful stay at this property! There was plenty of space for the whole family to spread out and relax. The home was very clean, bright, and spacious with adorable decor—loved the cute comforters and linens, which made it feel extra cozy and welcoming.The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals, which made cooking super convenient. The kids had a blast swimming in the lake and playing on the beach. While the fishing was a bit slow at times, we still managed to catch a few bass, northerns, and crappies.Overall, a great spot for a relaxing family getaway. We’d definitely stay here again!

Enchanting

This lake home has oodles of charm, and comfort everywhere. The hosts are wonderful people who have stocked the place generously. The kitchen is a dream to cook in, with lots of space and nice cookware.The lake is pretty and quiet, and the home has a nice sand beach and a great dock with swim ladder. The lake has a sand bottom, and it is shallow for quite a distance out from the home's shoreline. Beautiful woods surround this home too. We rented a pontoon for a couple of days from Runamuck Rides, operated by the home's owners, and enjoyed cruising around. You will have a great time here!

Fantastic home! This was a last minute booking because our other rental was cancelled the week before our arrival. In hindsight, this home worked out far better for our family! The house and everything in it was absolutely spotless, which was greatly appreciated! The kitchen was very well stocked with many of the necessities, which was also appreciated since we ate in most days. Joan was so accommodating with our last minute booking and even coordinated having a pontoon boat delivered right to the dock for the week we stayed! The lake isn't huge, but is just the right size for a boat and fishing. Lots of great memories made and likely the best place in the area to stay!

Family Vacation

We enjoyed our time at the lake at this beautiful location. The house was well stocked, which made it easy to settle in. It was easy to communicate with the owners, and they graciously accommodated a last minute pontoon rental request. The house was lovely and the property felt private so was a great place to relax and create new family memories. We would love to go back.

Fabulous well detailed cottage

The home is spotless and perfectly appointed. Two rooms are cozy but have great storage with dressers and closets! Kitchen is spacious and great place to gather. Screened porch is a complete bonus and picturesque. Lake is amazing and clean. Weed free entrance.

Baker Clan

Our week-long stay at Runamuk Roost was great. The description of the cabin and amenities was spot on. I always bring my own knives and a few specialty pans, like a big stock pot and a stove-top griddle. But the kitchen was well stocked. We were 8 people: 2 grandparents, their sons and their spouses, a 21-month old toddler, a 10-month old baby, and a dog. It is a very nice, very beautiful and peaceful setting. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The property has a beautiful western view across a 198 acre lake. We watched sunsets from the end of the dock or gathered around the fire pit above the beach. The lake has a breeding loon pair. They had 2 loonlets. Don't miss the chicken-fried steak at the Hayward Family Restaurant or the pastries at Firehouse Bakery and Deli in Hayward. It was a wonderful family week in a wonderful setting.

Great Experience

We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and defintily gives you the cabin/cottage feel. Great sand beach for the kids to play. Water is a little under waist deep at the end of the dock which is very nice for new swimmers. Lake is quiet and clean. Interior furnishings and decor was very well done. Comfortable beds and the perfect place for rest and relaxation!

Very nice 5 bedroom place

All the bells and whistles, everything you need for a great family getaway. Small quiet lake with room to play or fish. Great communication with Runamuck, Primarily with Joan who was very patient with us.

Best Vacation Rental

We had a wonderful week with great fishing, beautiful clear water, and an abundance of nature. The log cabin lake home was so clean and spacious. After renting other properties for our yearly family gathering each summer for the last 25 years, this was by far the nicest home we have ever enjoyed! We will definitely be returning next year. Amazing and Peaceful

Property is gorgeous. The kitchen has a large center island for preparing food and hanging out. The house has woods on both sides and is on a dead end street. Very little boat traffic and the sandy shallow beach area was perfect for our 3 year old granddaughter. We saw 7 loons and a variety of ducks. Loved the fact that it felt secluded yet was close to downtown Hayward, grocery store, and restaurants. We would definitely rebook and recommend this property.
