Our vacation at the North Shore was fantastic, thanks in no small part to our experience at this amazing house. Start with the fact that the construction and everything inside and out is first class, highest quality. From the exterior to the wood flooring throughout to the kitchen and appliances, bathrooms and fixtures, to the landscaping, and including the furnishings. The pictures don't convey how NICE it is; walking in through the elegant front door and then making our way to the dining/living area with its expansive, panoramic views to the beach and the water, everyone in our group said, "Wow." My wife and I have stayed in many rental houses, and at the North Shore on several occasions, and some of the houses were nice, but you always have a feel you are in a "beach house". This is a house that doesn't have any compromise. It would fit in nicely in a gated community in a very fancy neighborhood on the mainland.
That's not to say that it doesn't have features that enhance the beach experience. The living area/kitchen has thick wood folding doors on sliders that open up the lower level to the outside and the deck. The deck is comfy and spacious--perfect place to sit and watch the sunsets. Upstairs, the master bedroom has its own deck that also provides great views. Landscaping on both sides of the house enhances the privacy for the entire house without blocking views.
There is a barbecue area, and a grass backyard, from which you follow a path of stone pavers down to the beach. The beach is very wide and secluded. Public access is difficult in this area. One of our local regulars down at the beach was the famed surf photographer, Clark Little, who we saw taking pictures on two consecutive days when the break was rolling in nicely. Many of his pictures that we saw at his gallery at Haleiwa were clearly taken right in front of this house.
The house is short walking distance, 2 blocks, to a bunch of food trucks serving great food for those nights when we didn't feel like cooking. Foodland was also 2 blocks away, next to the food trucks, very convenient. Shark's Cove is across the street from Foodland and great for snorkeling. Waimea is a couple blocks past Foodland. Haleiwa and Turtle Bay are 5 or 10 minutes away. Most of our days were spent at the house or down at the beach. No need to go anywhere else.
Amenities included bikes, snorkel and surf gear, and the fastest wifi we have ever had-- 200mbps!
Stay here and you will be very happy!!
