We had a great stay at this charming chalet! Jeff and Diana were kind, communicative and all around amazing hosts! We enjoyed the lovely view, relaxing hot tub and being so close to the Hollywood sign! We plan to come back in the cooler months to enjoy this retreat in the winter. Thank you for having us!

Jeff was a great host. The house had incredible views, and we really enjoyed the historical LA music connection. It felt like glamping — comfortable, spacious, and perfect for our large group to spread out and relax.

My family of 5 stayed at the Hollywood Sign Chalet June 20-24. When I booked, it was not only because it looked aesthetically unique but of course for the experience of being in the closest house to the Hollywood sign and man it didn’t disappoint! The last morning my husband & I took the 1.5 mile path past the house and got to walk behind the sign, so cool! Pros: Super friendly host, awesome sound system to play music as loud as we wanted, large space for our family to spread out, jacuzzi prepped by the host everyday for us to use in the evening, & views that can’t be beat!Cons: Parking was tricky-driveway was too steep to get our rented mini van into and regardless the host was parked there our entire stay. Which brings me to the fact the host lives onsite (the garage connected to the house has been turned into a living space) which was semi awkward. We did have an issue with ants (as another review had mentioned) and had to keep everything sweet in the fridge- will say it is to be expected when the house is built into a sandy hill and there was bug spray provided in the kitchen. Not very private as there are nonstop tourists from first thing in am into the evening walking by on the path to the sign. Last, I’m sure the chalet was awesome in its prime, but has seen a lot of wear and tear-again not a problem for us as we were essentially sight seeing all day everyday and basically only sleeping there. Overall we enjoyed our stay & Jeff was a great host!

There were goats on property almost every day, there was the goat man that was there with the goats, he’s poster was hanging around the area telling everyone to beware of him and he is the owner’s handyman, he was sketchy, there was also trash around property and also a mouse in kitchen and ants all over house, 4 of us had to share one bathroom because of the ants took over the other, we came across the country and felt like we couldn’t get another place, and the money we spent on this house to stay, there was also bees everywhere because the goat guy is also a bee keeper, and the owner has bees hives on property that they take care of, if I knew this before hand I would of not booked this place, the house is very outdated, dark and gloomy, half the lights in house don’t work, also the switches and electrical plugs don’t work, I’m pretty upset about the conditions, host was there the first night and then went on trip and the handyman/ goat man/ bee keeper was hanging around

In accordance with LAFD regulations, we are clearing brush on our property using a "goat-scaping" service. We also raise bees up on the hillside, and harvest honey that we provide to our guests. The ants come in looking for water during hot days from Griffith Park, 4000 acres of parkland adjacent to our property. We were prepared with ant spray to deter ants from coming in, but we received no indicatjon of a problem from the guests. If some bulbs and switches need servicing, we will attend to that immediately.

If you’re looking to spend time in one of the coolest musically historical homes, look no further! The property was quirky, rustic, with a welcoming layout and a sprawling, majestic vista. Also, I never thought I’d want the property owner to be on the premises while staying at a VRBO but Jeff changed my mind. His presence ended up being a huge bonus! When we arrived he was playing Cherish by the Association on the incredible sound system we had access to. He was completely respectful of our privacy but also offered to show me and my kids his recording studio, and he also got the jacuzzi ready for us every day! He sort of embodied the spirit of 60s musicians coming together for creative camaraderie. Being so close to the Hollywood sign was of course the initial draw and an incredible experience that became a sort of retroactively added bucket list item I got to check off. Thank you so much, Jeff, for being such an incredible host and sharing your gem of a property with us!

Really Cool Place

We loved our stay at the chalet. It is a really cool house in an awesome spot underneath the Hollywood sign. My family loved our time there. Our two boys, ages 10 and 7, loved the loft area on the second floor and the hot tub outside. It’s a great place to explore with the Mulholland trail right nearby. If you like running/walking the trail is fantastic. Iconic views of the Hollywood sign and LA skyline. It’s also a really short drive to Universal Studios. If you are looking for something different than just a hotel room, I highly recommend this awesome chalet. Jeff is really great and easy to communicate with. It is truly an iconic Los Angeles experience, easy 5 stars!

A get away….

Location is great if you want to escape the LA hustle. Great trails for outdoor activities! We had to be at UCLA for events and it was a tough commute. The home needs an upgrade; but as-is condition worked for a short weekend. The Owner was professional and very responsive.

Family fun

If your looking for a great place to get together with family/friends and relax and enjoy each others company, you can find that here. If your looking for something to complain about, you can certainly that as well. this is a great place if you can roll with it and just enjoy what it has to offer. If your three couples with six kids and 2 dogs between you, your going to love this place. If staying somewhere immediately after 3 couples with 6 kids and 2 dogs makes you apprehensive, this is probably not your best option.

Fabulous home in Hollywood Hills

We loved staying in this one-of-a-kind home in the Hollywood Hills. There was ample room for five of us - two parents and our three young adult sons - and we especially enjoyed the deck with its sprawling LA views, and general comfort of the entire home. We would love to stay here again!

Great house with amazing history!

We loved staying at this house!! The host was so nice and shared the history of the house with us, which was awesome! We were there for Universal Studios and it was an easy 10 minute drive from the house. There is a problem with some ants due to being on the hill but it was manageable. We will definitely book here again!
