I recently stayed at Sonder Santa Ana in Madrid, and it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. The photos on their website (which influenced my decision to book) show a new, modern, clean, property, but the reality could not have been more different. The room was outdated, poorly maintained and dirty. Upon arrival, I discovered hairs in the bathroom, and when I requested housekeeping to address the issue, the response was apathetic. Adding to the frustration, I attempted to cancel my entire three-night stay due to their blatant misrepresentation of the property, but the staff refused to refund the first night and only agreed to cancel the remaining two nights. I was left with no choice but to endure one night due to their inflexibility. To make matters worse, at night, people congregated and smoked outside the main entrance, filling the property with the smell of cigarettes that made its way into my room. The most egregious issue, however, is the blatant misrepresentation of the property. The images on their website bear no resemblance to the actual state of the rooms (see attached photos). This is not just unethical—it is outright deceptive. I strongly urge anyone considering staying at this property—or with Sonder in general—to think twice. My experience reveals a company that utilises doctored images, slick apps, and flashy marketing to mis-sell. Customers deserve not to be deceived. This was my first and last Sonder experience!

Lovely apartment, clean entrance, small lift, very close to SOL centre. A night club is across from the apartment and can be noisy at busy periods. Closed windows helps.

Clean, convenient and great value for money

For the price what we received was absolutely perfect. The location is amazing with the property directly in the centre of Madrid, and under 15 minutes away from the central station, the room was immaculate and came packed full of amenities such as a kitchen and even a washing machine, and of course air conditioning. The bathroom felt very modern and the room was perfect for 2 people. This property came with the freedom of an apartment and with all the hospitality and amenities of a premium hotel. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Madrid.

Wonderful stay

I had a wonderful stay, the room was great and the location was incredible! The staff was very helpful as well when I needed to make adjustments. I will definitely be using Sonder when I am in Barcelona or whenever I’m in one of the locations they’re available in!

Good size deluxe studio. Large comfortable bed & sofa bed with good quality bedding . Spotlessly clean . Well equipped kitchen . Friendly attentive staff. Everyone we met was really helpful & charming . Lovely bathroom . Minor point was toilet tight squeeze by sink . Ok for us but anyone larger would possibly find it awkward. Location perfect. Very central so can walk everywhere.

The property was in the very heart of madrid.It is really clean ,spacioucs and surprisingly quite being right in the center of the capital.The staff are very polity and helpfull and all speak very good english plus other languages.We would recommend using the 11th Principe Hotel.

Excellent apartment. Very friendly staff, great location. Ideal for families with washing machine, fridge, cooker hob and cutelery all included. Great for quick family meals. Clean, modern and spacious. Location is excellent. Central Madrid is accessible by foot, even for families (we used metro once in 6 days). Reccomend Sol square for evening shopping, entertainment and food. There is also a small small convenient store right outside the hotel which is very handy. Plenty of options to eat out in grand plaza near by or explore the small shops in the many streets. Overall, excellent trip. All family happy!

Madrid city break

Hotel is in a great spot in the old city centre streets. 5 minutes walk from Sol Metro station. Very friendly staff throughout the hotel. Our one bedroom apartment was very sizeable, very clean and had all we needed. Turndown service was provided every evening with chocolates. Our only issue was the lift was not working and we were on 5th floor. Staff moved cases up and down and were very apologetic for the inconvenience. Small snacks put out in the lobby from breakfast to bedtime. Would recommend this hotel as a small, intimate establishment, with very professional and friendly staff.

Great hotel for a city break

We visited Madrid for my wife's birthday and couldn't have had better accommodation. Close to the centre, the room was exactly as shown in the brochure, well appointed, clean,fresh and very comfortable. The staff were the most obliging and helpful we have had on our trips away, nothing was too much trouble. They even brought a bottle of champagne up for my wife's birthday. Would recommend a stay you won't be disappointed

Perfect in every way!

Lovely place to stay. Great to have a little kitchen.. even a washing machine! Although a coffee machine a kettle would have been better. I mentioned this to receptionist and he said they did have them...so I should of asked..something to remember next time! Good location to lots of museums .. cathedral and plazas. I woukd recommend buying tickets to avoid massive queues. Lots of great restaurants and coffee shops. I would definitely stay there again. We used the shuttle service to and from airport. Fantastic service.
