Lovely staff and lovely building - just a bit tired in places and quite noisy - some sort of extractor fan running till midnight then starting 6 in morning Great location and nothing too much trouble by staff but probably wouldn’t stay again due to noise

The hotel was delightful and very historic. In a great location within walking distance of many sites. Most importantly the staff was Top Notch and very accommodating with great attention to detail. They enjoyed their work and each other which was quite evident, and because of that they provided excellent service. I would recommend anyone to go there; The Price is Right and a great variety of breakfasts are included

I love this hotel. It is quirky and old, but well maintained. The signage was improved this time, and I was able to find my room easily. On a previous stay this was not the case, and I wandered around a bit. My room faced an alley and it got quite noisy, especially early in the morning. The radiator and towel warmer appeared to have leaked a bit, but worked well. The staff are just lovely, always helpful.

The Castle Hotel is located in walking distance of many restaurants and tourist areas, but the parking is very difficult if you aren’t accustomed to narrow and small parking areas. The hotel itself is not very updated and the room we stayed in had an awkward configuration. Luckily, we were there for one night, so it was manageable. The staff are very friendly.

Very conveniently situated for Croke Park. My room was fine. The bed was comfortable but I don’t like synthetic pillows. Nice shower room that looked newly fitted. As it is an old hotel everything creaks and the walls are thin so noise was a bit of a problem. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay.

Great location, friendly staff

This is a nice hotel close to a lot of Dublin attractions. It seems to be a bunch of buildings that have been renovated to connect, so there are multiple elevators and staircases, and some rooms can only be accessed using stairs. We thought this added to the charm. Rooms are small, and with the windows open it was a bit noisy. Mattresses were thin and not comfortable. But overall we enjoyed our stay because of the great location, good breakfast, and friendly staff.

Room is very comfortable and clean. Very noisy outside at all hours. No ability to provide any air circulation on warm days. Insufficient towels provided: two beds but one set of towels. Excellent restaurant in basement. Excellent breakfast. Courteous staff. Excellent location: close to heart of downtown, train station and Trinity college. I would return next trip for sure.

It was near Croke Park as we had booked for Gareth Brooks concert. We traveled by car and the hotel had been very honest with us prior to arrival by letting us know parking spaces were limited so we booked a city centre car park as backup. We were very fortunate to get a parking space at rear of hotel. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Rooms were spotless as well as the bathroom and shower. More of a character hotel and could hear ones in the room next door to us but didn’t bother us as only staying a night. In a good area of Dublin for Croke Park and also near enough to walk to city centre and Grafton Street

This property had great staff and service. The breakfasts were wonderful and we felt well served each day. We also had friendly service that would answer all our questions. The bar/restaurant downstairs had live more traditional Irish music as well. Our o Lu downside was that room 132 did not have a tub of any sort. We had a stand up shower but it was just the tile on the floor and there was no boundary for the tub space so our floor was always wet and we had to lay out towels when we showered which was not helpful when we had three of us in the room and the floor was very wet each time. We also had the loudest seagulls outside our room so we had to run the fan all night so we didn’t hear them so loud. Otherwise the character of the property was great and we enjoyed our stay and we were very close to the city center and transportation to all things.

Excellent in all respects. A family run business that makes you feel welcome. A deceptively large hotel considering the picture of the front. It is made up of a number of Georgian town houses and has lovely period style furniture in the common areas. There is a bar and restaurant on site (bar open late!) They have live music and Irish dancing on Friday and Saturday nights which was very enjoyable and the busy area of residence had a great sing song, a nice way to round off the evening. If, like us you were attending a gig at Croke Park, it is 10-15 mins walk. For shopping, 5 minutes walk to the main areas and another 5 gets you to the river. Rooms were clean and tidy, hairdryers supplied and daily cleaning. Special mention to Jonathon who checked us in, good tips on where to eat etc and a pleasant dry sense of humour that I am sure some will not catch! 10/10 if we return to Dublin, we would actively seek this hotel out and only stay anywhere else if this one was fully booked! I have seen a few comments about this not being suitable for people with mobility issues, but saw a number of people doing just fine. There are a couple of small slopes in hallways and a number of stairs, but there are 2 lifts also and the slopes are very gentle and short, so do not be put off! We do alot of city breaks and if all properties were like this I would be happy. PS - Great breakfast included, either hot or continental, or as asome people did....BOTH!

Ornate building, friendly staff, modernisation?

We arrived in Dublin to one of the hottest weeks ever! The temp between 20C - 29C the entire stay with only one day - our last day being over cast. You may wonder why I started my review with this information but it is very relevant. We checked in and were allocated a family room on the ground floor that was street facing - we were worried about noise but had already overheard another guest asking to change rooms and being told there weren't any free, so thought we'd see how we got on - pleased to say other then the same kind of traffic noise we experienced at home it wasn't really any worse - however the windows were shut the entire time (more on that shortly). So as I mentioned the heat, old building no air conditioning (not usually required) windows locked shut due to being ground floor street facing, wow stifling was an understatement, one desk fan provided that just circulated the already hot air! Sweaty nights sleep for our entire stay. The room was clean, but looked tired in places. Fresh towels were provided daily and there was shampoo, bodywash and soap provided. However the water pressure was non existent, it was thick trickle rather then flow meaning you had to stand almost against the wall to wash. The gym mentioned on hotels.com as a facility is no longer in use. Breakfast was good. Bit of a disappointment for a 4 star rated Hotel The hotel is situated a 5 minute walk from O'Connell Street and the main centre of Dublin great for venturing out on foot.

there was no quietness. the windows in the room opened up only enough for a hand to get in and out of if. We got in to Dublin at 5am and we did not get a room until 2:30pm that afternoon. even though we called 48hr a head to let them know. the bed in the room was so hard and uncomfortable. the person that clean are room did a half of a job. so i would not let them cleen my room untill we left. the sheets on the bed i notice that leat minutes befor we left. had a stain or something on it and they cover it up with 2 other sheets. so for now on i and checking every place i stay at now for not clean sheets. In the other had the staff was nice, friendly, helpful. The food was great. they need for had santiziers in the billing if they are not going to clean every half hr. i know it a old billing but wish for future success to at less fix the windows so they opened up more, get at AC,and or pervade at Fan in the rooms. i know Ireland normally do not get this hot like it did this time around. trust me i know. i been Ireland and stayed in Dublin plenty of time. that would be helpful. Also please let the cleaning staff know. yes Covid 19 is still around they really need to clean and lot more better. expressly when is a plder billing.
