Cumley's Journeys End cottage on McCrossen Lake, Chain ‘O Lakes


Come and play at this 3 bedroom, 1 ½ bath cottage on beautiful McCrossen Lake. McCrossen is a 31 acre clear no-wake lake, great for swimming, fishing and relaxing on the water. You have use of two kayaks, 2 paddle boards and a paddle boat and the swimming raft is right off of the dock. Boat rentals are available on the Chain o'Lakes. Or contact us to rent our pontoon &/or Maui Mat
This 1930’s vintage cottage is full of charm. The full screened-in porch is perfect for morning coffee while enjoying the beautiful sunrise or just hanging out. This 1300 sq foot cottage sleeps 8-10 . The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed; the first upstairs bedroom has one queen bed and a set of twin beds; the second upstairs bedroom has 2 queen beds with a half bath (plus washer & dryer). Eat inside the cottage or in the screened porch. Relax on the newly installed dock, swim out to the swim dock, or take a nap in the screened porch. A great summer vacation spot.

We are within walking distance of the Wheelhouse restaurant and Scoopers ice cream and 2-5 miles from cute eateries, shopping, grocery stores and fast food. Boat rentals are available on the Chain of Lakes

$1925 per week during the season Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day weekend (Friday 4:00 pm check-in to Friday 10:00 am check-out)



$500 refundable security/damage deposit (will be refunded within 7 days of vacancy if no damage is incurred)

7 day reservations only "in season" after Memorial Day through Labor Day- rental period is from Fridays @ 4:00- Friday pm @ 10:00 am

3 day (minimum) reservations available during "off-season" from April 15 - Memorial Day and Aug 31- October 31


No rentals after Oct 31 through May 10

Simply delightful cottage

Beautifully maintained cottage. A lovely place to relax and enjoy an authentic Waupaca cottage experience. We have stayed in five places in Waupaca over the years and this is our favorite!

Wonderful Stay

My kids and I had a perfect vacation at The Cumley’s Cottage. Judi and Gary were so great to work with. Their cottage had everything we needed and more! We enjoyed the fire pit, the floating dock, the new spacious dock, the cozy interior and the porch was AMAZING! We can’t wait to go back!

Lake Retreat

Great place to make family memories on a clear lake. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises, swimming, kayaking, SUP’s, and quality family time relaxing at the lake. Cottage is perfect. We can’t wait to go back.

Wonderful cottage in perfect location

I wish I could keep this hidden gem a secret, but we've already told many family and friends how great this place is. Our family had a wonderful time at this cottage. Everything was first-class and professional, from the communication to the check-in to the cleanliness of the cabin. The location is absolutely perfect - close enough to town for a quick grocery run, but far enough away for peace and quiet. We spent 90% of our time on the screen porch enjoying the view of the lake. We're definitely returning!

Cumley’s Journey End review

Our stay was fabulous! The cottage’s eclectic decor had hints of Waupaca history along with todays amenities (WiFi and TV apps). It was stocked with everything from all the urinates and cookware you need to floats, kayaks and a paddle boat. It is just a short jaunt to some of our favorites like the wheelhouse for pizza, the red mill for ice cream, downtowns market, antique shops, silvermist greenhouses, etc.

Grandparents Getaway

I was looking for home close to water, sandy beach area on a no wake lake. Judi was very accommodating with answering my questions and even sending pictures of a few things we inquired about. When checking in Judi was waiting for us and went over everything with us. This is a great house and had everything we needed and wanted. The screened in porch was great to have enjoyed our morning coffee out on the porch. Thanks for a great week.

Beautiful fall weekend in Wisconsin

This cottage was so clean and comfortable! A classic Wisconsin lake cottage with a wonderful porch facing the lake. We enjoyed cruising around the beautiful Waupaca chain of lakes in our pontoon boat. Judi was so helpful and welcoming, this was a seamless rental experience. The grandkids are already asking if we can go back!

Journey’s End Cottage

We have coming to Waupaca for many years. McCrossen Lake has been our favorite and Journey’s End was our favorite of three different cottages that we stayed at. Clean, well supplied, great add-ons like the paddle boards and kayaks kept all happy. The porch is one of the best features.

This was my first VRBO stay. I chose this particular rental because of the previos reviews. We needed 3 bedrooms and the 1-1/2 bath was a bonus when all 5 adults were getting ready for a wedding. The rental exceeded our expectations, everyone enjoyed their stay! Clean, spacious and beautiful view!

Perfect location

Very clean and comfortable cottage! Porch was a great place to relax. Having a pontoon boat we loved the fact that we were situated in the middle of the chain, it was a short ride wherever you wanted to go. Owner was very responsive, quick to reply to questions.

Everything you could want here!

From the minute we got there, we felt at home. It is a well-supplied cottage on a beautiful lake with good fishing right off the dock. There's plenty for everyone to do, including paddle boating, kayaking, swimming, and boating (can rent close by). The kitchen has everything one needs to cook a gourmet meal! It was perfect for our family coming and going all week. We were able to sleep 11 , with the baby in a pack 'n play, with no problem. If the weather is warm, there's even a trundle bed on the porch for sleeping. The screened in porch is the go-to place to look out over the water, have coffee, eat, play games, etc. We loved it!

We fell in love with this cottage and McCrossen lake in the late summer of 2016 and purchased it in the Fall. We updated the kitchen (new counters, floor, painted cabinets & more), bathroom, freshened it up. We are looking forward to doing more when the weather is warm! We are looking forward to using it with our friends and family and sharing it with others when we aren't using it.
