Premier Holmes County Getaway Between Mohican and Amish Country!

Welcome to Whitetail Ridge Lodge, your premier Holmes County getaway! We are located between Holmes County's Amish Country and Mohican Country, providing guests with either option for your vacation destination!
This tranquil retreat is tastefully furnished and beautifully landscaped and is nestled in a scenic woodland farm setting, with gorgeous views. The home offers more than just your basic cabin, offering 4400 square feet of luxurious comfort, this gorgeous timber frame home will not disappoint! Enjoy the view from the lower level walkout stone patio, the attached outdoor pavilion, the master bedroom balcony, or the front porch with family or friends.

The lodge is fully furnished with many pieces custom made by our local Amish craftsmen. It boasts three king sized beds plus a pullout. The custom made dining room table seats 12 and the new soft leather sectional in the great room offers the comfort to curl up with a favorite book or watch a game on the big screen TV or check your social media with the WIFI.

We can accommodate up to 6 guests. We do have a per person fee after the base rental of two (2) people. Please understand and fill in the correct number of people staying when you book your stay. Vrbo automatically calculates the charges for you when you make the reservation. Please be honest. We know when you have more people stay and you will be charged for the maximum number of guests. We are sorry this must be stated.

Summertime stays invite you to enjoy the outdoor pavilion where you can light a fire in the stone fireplace, while you grill steaks on the charcoal park style grill and soak in the beauty and quiet of this rural location. Winter offers a whisky barrel game table or the warmth of two gas fireplaces where you can kick back and just relax.

Check in is 3:00 p.m. check-out is 10:00 a.m. We have contact free check in to provide you with a safe entry. Thank you for allowing us to share our beautiful home with you for your stay!

Weekend getaway

The house is beautiful, and we had more than enough room for the 5 of us. It was a beautiful setting and we enjoyed the large yard and outdoor pavilion. Not too far from Loudonville and good restaurant options. Black Fork Bistro was recommended by the owner, and it did not disappoint. Would love to come back sometime.

This place was exactly like we were looking for. The house is amazing and clean and well equipped with everything you would need. It is set in a country setting with no one around to bother you and it is so peaceful and quiet. We walked around the yard several times and cooked on the grill and just enjoyed everything. We will definitely be going back to this house. The host are amazing and answered any questions we had in a timely manner. Don't pass this place up if you are looking for a clean, quiet and relaxing place,

These guests were exceptional! Everything was left in place. Its always a joy to come in with my cleaning crew, and although everything is cleaned and sanitized between guests; to find it in good order! It allows us the extra time to do the little things to keep our place a beautiful property for our next guests!

Beautiful!!!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful lodge in Holmes County! It had everything we needed to feel at home. We had an easy drive to Loudonville to enjoy hiking and a day at Mohican and then back to make dinner and enjoy a quiet evening and fire.

Wonderful house

We enjoyed the house and location. We were looking for a place where 3 older couples could get away together for a celebration. The house and amenities were all more than adequate and the location was beautifu.

Staff Retreat

We hosted our annual staff retreat. We enjoyed the peace and quiet during out stay. The property provided everything we needed. Tom and Kelly were gracious hosts. We have no reservations about recommending the Whitetail Ridge Lodge.

Excellent and relaxing!

Such an awesome property! You can go hiking or shopping or just stay put all weekend like we did! The back pavilion has beautiful sunset views! We had just the relaxing weekend like we needed!

Beautiful home

Loved the large living area, large kitchen, separation of bedrooms. Loved the deck and fireplace outside where we gathered in the evening. A perfect place to gather for a long weekend with friends we hadn't been able to see during the last few years.

Wedding weekend stay

Such a clean and comfortable place. Our daughter got married at Mohican Tree House resort and this was conveniently located. Iwe stayed here with friends and it was a wonderful place to come to at the end of the day and relax. We enjoyed watching deer at the pond. The owner was so very helpful in communication, directions and suggestions!

We are Tom and Kelly Esselburn and we are happy to host you at our beautiful property. Tom accidentally stumbled across this lovely home and we bought it as a place we could retire to but not too far away from "home." We wanted someplace where we could gather with our growing family of five kids and began families of their own, and it's a good thing , because even our large farmhouse can't always accommodate everyone for those special family gatherings. We just knew we needed to share it with others too because we loved it here and were hoping others would as well.
In 2015 we launched Whitetail Ridge Lodge followed by The Barn at Whitetail in 2017. We are situated between Mohican State Park with all the water activities- canoeing, tubing, hiking, biking and horse back riding in the Loudonville area AND the shopping, crafts, local wineries, food and farmers markets of Amish country in the Millersburg and Berlin areas!
We feel we have the best Holmes County has to offer because at the end of your busy day you can return to gather in this comfortable luxury to just relax on the back patio in front of the outdoor fireplace and enjoy your time with family, friends or just a quiet couples retreat.
We have met so many wonderful people over the years and love to meet with our guests if arrival time permits. The most common theme of the comments we receive is how clean our place is. We always love this because we always appreciate a clean relaxing place when we travel. We try to offer what is best for our visitors, insuring a safe and healthy place for families or friends who just want to gather and enjoy each other! Many people have returned to visit and enjoy this beautiful place and area!

The best thing about visiting here is the quiet! If you're enjoying the outdoors the nearest road is far from being a road much traveled and the trees muffle most sounds! You can actually hear the birds, squirrels, deer moving about or acorns fall from the trees in autumn.
Indoors the quality of this beautiful timber frame home provides an added layer of tranquility! The only "noise" you need to hear is the laughter of family and friends while you enjoy each others company in a game of cards or charades!
The view here is beautiful as you are surrounded by trees that offer privacy, plus provide an abundant view of the woodland creatures from the back patio. The area outside the house is an open lawn giving you room to stretch your legs, check out the well groomed landscape or take in the views of the setting sun as it sinks behind the forest from the back patio with fireplace and park style grill while you enjoy a crisp glass of local wine. Or on a quiet evening enjoy the balcony off the main suite and listen to the frogs sing their night time songs.
We encourage you to walk up to the edge of the woods but caution guests from entering them. We do have bobcats, coyotes and even rummers of black bears sighted near this area, and who knows about Bigfoot! The terrain in the woods is steep and there are a couple deep valleys. We also experienced a derecho in 2022 which caused significant damage to some of our trees deep in the woods, making them possible dangers during high wind times. For your safety we encourage you to hike on state park or designated hiking trails.

We believe the thing you can take away while visiting us here at Whitetail Ridge Lodge is how quiet and stunningly beautiful nature is here. This is so much more than just a cabin you stayed in once! You step into luxury and comfort and the stress just melts away. Everywhere in and outside we believe one word says it all. Gorgeous! The grounds are well manicured and provide a variety of seasonal beauty to enjoy. Inside where creature comforts are important we try to meet those expectations as well! We feel everyday here is a very good day and we would love to share that with you. Our moto is 'Today is a good day for a good day!'
