Magical courtyard private cottage by beach

Recently updated beach cottage! Available downstairs space is very comfortable with a relaxed island breezy appeal. King and queen bedrooms with additional quality blow up queen mattress. Living space is open with French doors leading to the back deck. Great for relaxing after a day at the beach, downtown or shopping as this place is close to it all. Spacious kitchen with dining for 6 plus a small breakfast nook. Gorgeous private courtyard with string lights for night time dining in a magical setting.
Expect everything you may need or forgot to bring with complimentary wine and freshly made muffins upon arrival. Water bottles and coffees to start you out plus a hair dryer, soaps, towels, beach wagon and chairs, gas grills, off-street parking and more all for your use.
Golf and shopping is everywhere! Local dining is wonderful on St. Augustine Beach, Vilano Beach and downtown. Some of our favorites are Beachcomber, Terra & Aqua, Ice Plant, Odd Birds Bar, Catch 27, Barley Republic, Crave Foodtruck, Kookaburra Coffee, The Reef and The Preserved. All info regarding attractions and menus are available to you.
Beach access is a 5 minute walk or should you wish to drive there is public parking on 10th Street and A1A or drive on beach parking only a few blocks south on A Street.
Pets are negotiable with $125 non-refundable fee.

What a super home to bring pets!

Our two Jack Russels had endless hours of fun chasing squirrels and lizards in the back, secured fenced in yard. It’s a short two block walk to the beach and restaurant. Would highly recommend

Weekend getaway

This is our second time staying at The Magical Gardens. Super clean, conveniently located to lots of restaurants, ocean. Host supplies everything. Backyard is fenced in, lots of foliage. Quite place to sit back and enjoy a cocktail.

Amazing house and backyard!

The owners have done a fabulous job providing everything you will for the perfect getaway. The space is beautiful, comfy and super clean! The backyard is amazing-we loved sitting on the deck watching the squirrels play! Situated right across from the beach and walking distance to many restaurants and bars!

Beautiful Beach House

Property is gorgeous with an awesome beach vibe. Outdoor patio is is adorned with beautiful flowers and plants. So clean and comfortable! Highly recommended! Perfect place for couples wanting to get away and relax, also a great place for small families. I look forward to returning again.

Private paradise

Fantastic location in St Augustine Beach. Walkable to beach and many restaurants. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Fully fenced backyard/courtyard is an amazing place to eat, relax, watch birds, and enjoy the weather. Spotless interior, comfortable furnishings. Easy check in and out and lovely hosts. Can’t go wrong with this booking.

Stay at Cottage

The house was spotless and well-equipped with everything we needed. The host's attention to detail was evident in the thoughtful amenities provided including fresh baked bread, wine, and treats for my dog. We especially appreciated the quick responses and helpful tips from the host.

Island Cottage Haven on St. Augustine Beach!

Very cozy and island cottage ambiance! Perfect size for a family of four. Beach cart/buggy, chairs, umbrella and kitchen complete with cookwares and seasonings a big plus! About 7 min walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. We plan on visiting again! Thanks for such a relaxing place to stay at. "Elsa" did not bother us at all.

Anniversary weekend

what a wonderful and fabulous Anniversary weekend was at this beautiful cottage. the outdoor courtyard was serene, beautiful, clean, well kept and private. furnishing were so beautiful and Lela provided every amenity one could ask for. love, love, loved everything about this property. hope to book again. thank you Lela and Alan!!

Paradise!

We loved our stay at Alan and Lela’s home. It is in a great location..walking distance to many restaurants,the beach and the Farmers Market. The unit has everything you need and many extras. The backyard is so private and beautiful we didn’t want to leave! And Alan and Lela were great hosts!( I will miss seeing Little Bean )

New Years GetAway

Lela and Alan are wonderful hosts! They welcomed us with a box of cupcakes, wine and champagne to ring in the new year. The house was exactly as described, clean and fully stocked with the essentials. Perfect location, about 15 minutes away from Downtown St. Augustine in quiet neighborhood. Will definitely be revisiting.

Beach Cottage

This place was so perfect! The neighborhood was very quiet, no traffic or traffic noise. We were within walking distance to the beach & many popular restaurants. The house itself was so charming from the decor to the beautiful backyard set up. The owners provided everything we needed to get started for our week stay & even had a beautiful welcome gift when we arrived. You can tell they put a lot of thought & great care into their property & want peoples' stay to be enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Sweet Weekend Getaway

We loved our time at this property!!! This was our 2nd stay at this property and we were every bit as happy with the accommodations as we were after our 1st stay. The property was exactly as described, very clean, and the Magical Courtyard was truly magical!!! I would be remiss if I didn't give a big shout out to our hosts (Lela & Alan) who spoil us with personal touches, great communication, flexibility (when possible), and the wonderful freshly baked bread & puppy treats (as well as a nice bottle of wine) waiting on us when we arrived!!! We will always look for availability at this property when we come back!!!

Great stay for the weekend at St. Augustine

I loved how the property was. The location was perfect and the accessibility to the beach was awesome. I encountered one little mishap where the shower faucet broke and when I informed the owners they resolved the issue and installed a new faucet that same night within less than 2 hours. I was very pleased with their attentiveness and quickness in resolving the issue. I really enjoyed my stay and would love to return whenever I am back at in this area.

BEST PLACE ON THE ISLAND!

This was our third stay in this duplex. We always stay upstairs and it just seems like a second home. Susan (the owner) takes great care of the property and it looks as good now as when we first stayed in 2014 when it just opened. She also is very generous in supplying so many things one does not expect to find at this type of rental - laundry supplies, bottled water, toothpaste, plenty of great hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. We love Susan and we love coming to this property. We think you would enjoy it too!

Stress free

This rental is very clean, close to beach, nicely decorated and good for families with or without dogs. Everything you need and are afraid you forgot to bring is already there…cookware, bathroom/bathing essentials, washer and dryer with soap even. Lela is very welcoming and willing to arrange welcome gift and even Happy Birthday decorations, in our case! We hope to be back! Having just about everything you could need for a vacation and time at the beach was there…this made it sooo stress free for a family/Mom!

Anniversary 2024

The cottage was adorable - the hosts had decorated with a nice “beachy” vibe. The courtyard was amazing with gorgeous landscaping & lighting. Wish we could have used it more but because of the time of year the mosquitos were pretty bad. My husband’s biggest issue was the steaming on the TV - not easy to use. The welcoming bottle of wine and homemade sourdough bread was a really nice touch.

Sweet Weekend Getaway

We came over for a weekend of fun and this property delivered in a BIG way! The property was exactly as advertised, properly cleaned, and tastefully appointed. The back yard was a DREAM and we LOVED hanging out there and letting our dogs investigate every inch of this wonderful landscaped paradise. In closing please note that we have been staying in pet friendly VRBO rentals on St. Augustine beach for years, and the hosts for this property went over and above in every aspect of hospitality. There were SO MANY special touches, but they absolutely captured our hearts with homemade doggie treats for each of our dogs, and bottle of wine, and fresh baked artisan bread waiting for our arrival!!! We will absolutely stay at this property in the future, and encourage everyone to give them a try!!!

Wunderbare Wohnung in Strandnähe

Diese Wohnung ist ideal für eine kleine Familie, die St Augustine entdecken und vor allem Zeit am Strand verbringen möchte. Sie ist geräumig, sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr gut ausgestattet. Der Außenbereich ist wunderschön. Die Lage in einem netten und ruhigen Wohngebiet hat uns sehr gut gefallen. St Augustine war mit dem Auto schnell zu erreichen und der Strand war fußläufig. Wir haben hier wunderbare Tage verbracht und wären gern noch viel länger geblieben!

Great place to stay

The Home was exactly as pictured. It felt just like a cottage on the beach. The backyard oasis was enjoyed by our dogs as well as us day and night. Very close to restaurants and St Augustine Old Town and Fort.

Brief background: Alan Swanson is a Flagler graduate and has been living in St. Augustine since 2002. He now works as a rep for Roof Pros, a locally run roofing company specializing in insurance claims due to storm damage. Alan's fiance Lela Pate found an incredible community when she moved to St. Augustine in 2008 and knew it was her forever home. Previous owner of LuLi’s Cupcakes bakery in uptown St. Augustine, she now works as administration/ office support for Alan while still enjoying baking at home as a hobby. Their paths crossed in 2012 and have since been building a productive, bright life together in their favorite town.

A note to our renters: We are excited to represent this charming beach house and always strive to maintain its highly rated reputation. We welcome you to enjoy all St. Augustine has to offer. Let us know what we can do to make your experience the best it can be.
