Hello! Welcome to Shell Cottage in beautiful Salvo on Hatteras Island. Thank you for your interest. We are located on a quiet street and just 390 feet from the beach access and a few minutesā€™ drive to a beach day-use park on the sound side. Traditional beach box bungalow. Come and enjoy a cozy and comfortable getaway vacation! This classic beach bungalow is clean, fresh, and comfortable. Great getaway for a couple or small family, kite boarder, and surfers. Have a great, relaxing time at our beautiful beach, never crowded with its golden sands. Enjoy a great day of surf fishing or sunbathing and come out at night with your flashlights and go ghost crab hunting. The roads are quiet and safe to walk or ride your bike to the day-use park. Get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Relax on the deck at night and watch the sky full of stars, so close you feel like you could touch them, or in the screened porch while enjoying your barbeque from the charcoal grill provided. Swim, fish, surf or kiteboard, windsurf, kayak or paddleboard on sound side. Salvo day-use park is perfect for a family with little ones where the water is shallow and warm. Rinse off in the outside shower! General store within walking distance. Lots of places to rent bikes, boards, kayaks, fishing gear, all close by. Whether you are looking for adventure or just wanting to chill on the beach, cast your worries aside and come enjoy a simple, fun, and relaxing vacation.

(Colony Dr. is a very quiet beach road, no traffic except for residents who live or vacation in Hatteras Colony ). The frequent visits from the ice cream and Kona Ice trucks are a plus!

Everything we needed for a nice stay. Only complaint i have is the air conditioner wasn't working. Got very hot in house even with windows open. The owner did let us know it was out. We made it through it and made the most out of it. I would stay again cause we loved the quiet location.

The place is very cute and charming and great for a small family, however there was a strong smell of mildew in the kitchen for the duration of our trip and the charcoal was not usable given that there was a lot of rust on the grill. Overall I would recommend the place except for people with lung conditions and I would recommend that you do not plan on using the charcoal. The place would greatly benefit from a BBQ.

A quiet oasis

We loved our time at the cozy cabin in Salvo. The host was informative and friendly answering all our questions before hand. The place was just as it was pictured and close to the beach. It was the perfect getaway for my family on our Spring Break! We canā€™t wait to come back to the Outer Banks!

A wonderful little cottage right by the beach! Check in is easy, the place was nice and clean, and there were little thoightful quirks that really made this place feel welcoming for us and our dog! There were beach chairs, extra dog bowls, even a doggy first aid kit in the bathroom! The ac unit broke down on us the first night but Traci was so kind and responsive. The late summer breeze kept the place just cool enough. Getting to the beach is super easy, its barely a block away. We went early in the day when it wasnt too busy. Expect the beach to pick up around 11am or so. But even so, there is soooo much beach, its easy to find a spot for you and your family. We loved the covered porch it was wonderful to sit out with our dog and enjoy the beach breeze. Overally great place to stay. I'd say best for a couple and their dog, or parents with 1-2 younger children and their dog.

Lovely little cottage that is clean and well cared for. If you donā€™t need all the beeps and whistles of the large houses, this is the place for you. It has a full size stove, refrigerator, and stacking washer-dryer. Easy to do our dishes by hand as there is no dishwasher . Many nice touches. The screened in porch is a great place to read or chat. Was especially nice when the breezes came through. The outdoor shower was great and has plenty of pressure. The owner is quick to respond to messages.

Everything was just as advertised. The property was very clean, in a quiet neighborhood and a very short walk to the beach. If we are in the area again, we will see if the property is available .

Great week.

We had a great time. The place was as advertised, a little smaller than I originally imagined but it does look like the pictures. Everything was clean. The only issue I could anticipate would be having to sleep with the doors open. As the AC does not have an access vent in the bedrooms or bathroom. If any of the doors are closed it immediately starts to get stuffy. Luckily it was just me and my wife so we did not mind leaving doors open, as we didn't have guest. So leaving doors open while showering or sleeping was not an issue. I would not recommend this place to peole who would need to keep doors closed while sleeping. It is perfect for a couple or small family.

Perfect place for a relaxing stay at the beach. Private, clean, close to the beach, and the perfect size for us as a couple. The location is wonderful, far from the crowds but close enough to stores, restaurants, and obx attractions. We loved it!

This cottage is exactly what I think of when I think of a beach cottage. It is charming and cozy, and a very short, easy walk to the beach. We will definitely stay there again as soon as we can!

Great quiet place to stay

This little cottage was a great place to stay. Well equipped to eat at home and not far from restaurants and stores. The owner was great at communicating and went above and beyond when we needed to adjust our stay. I highly recommend this place
