Classic beach house with great views! Dog Friendly!

Classic dog friendly beach house with ocean views! Less then 100 meters from beach access! All the comforts of home are here in this semi-oceanfront saltbox home. Wake up every day in designer John Robshaw sheets and take in the quaintness that Hatteras Island offers. Each bedroom has it's own deck attached with gorgeous views of both the sound and ocean on two levels! From the rooftop deck, accessible by a unique "hatch" from indoors, you can enjoy both the unencumbered views of the sunrise over the ocean and the sunset over the sound. The upper level of this home has an open floor arrangement, complete with an adjacent "gaming area", kitchen, & lovely dining area. There are three comfy bedrooms waiting to refresh you for the next day's activities. Enjoy yourself on the sundecks, on the shaded decking (for a good nap or book time), in the 6 person hot tub, or just walking around the neighborhood. Wifi is included. Ocean access is a short walk across the street and the sound is just minutes in the other direction. "Sail Away" is conveniently located 30 minutes south of the famed fishing of Oregon inlet, and minutes from an internationally acclaimed kite surfing destination. Also close by are shops, restaurants, sound access, and a new walk/bike path. The spiral stair case is the only staircase in the house that goes from the first floor to the third floor. Please book at your discretion. There are staircases externally as well that run to all levels of the house. Make "Sail Away" your home for the week and enjoyable an unforgettable beach experience!

Some dishes were dirty. Killed 2 roaches while there. Had to buy toilet paper. Freezer thawed while we were there.

We loved our stay at Sail Away! It is a great house, very close to the beach. The main floor is more spacious than in the photos. As others stated in their reviews, the spiral stairs are not a problem; you can always use the external stairs if needed. Another plus if you have a dog, is that there is a gate to keep the dog on the decks. The view from the very top deck is great, but it is not very convenient to get up there. We just used the deck outside the king bed suite, which has lovely ocean views. The location was just what we enjoy- on the quiet side, but still plenty to do. When we drove all the way north to Duck and learned how busy it is, we were glad we were staying away from all the traffic.

Relaxing Stay in Salvo

This was truly an amazing vacation. The home and location were absolutely perfect for our family and two dogs. The views are spectacular, whether on the rooftop or walking the beach. The surrounding area of Cape Hatteras National Seashore is such a beautiful spot!! This made for a peaceful and relaxing vacation compared to the crowded/busy north side of OBX. The property owner was amazing and very quick to respond to any inquiry. The house was clean with so many conveniences. Can’t wait to visit again!!!

Fun house!

Beautiful views! The teens had a blast. This house is perfect for bigger kids. Short walk to the beach. Over all we had a fantastic time.

We loved Sail Away! So unique and charming. Perfect location for us, so close to the beach. The house was well-stocked and comfortable. I loved all the small decorative touches. I'd definitely stay again!

Great trip

As advertised. Great little house. Five decks. Very clean. We were able to check in early. Host was very communicative. Only thing worth noting for any elderly guests is there are many stairs, and the beach is a 6 minute walk. Pro tip—the latch on the roof access sticks, but you can easily pop it with a butter knife.

Quirky and cute little beach house

We had a very nice stay last week. This was our first time staying in this cottage. Loved the spiral stairs, rooftop view. Short walk to oceanfront and beautiful beach. Perfect place for a family of four with two dogs. Only thing I would mention is to bring your own bath towels and washcloths as they don’t provide many. The cottage itself was clean and well appointed otherwise!

Cozy OBX Spot

Really enjoyed our week at Sail Away! Great location and easy beach access. Quirky beach house, so expect to get your stairs in! But the views from the third floor deck are worth it. Great place for a family with kiddos.

Exactly what we were looking for

My wife and I had an awesome getaway here. It was like living in a cool tree house for a week. Location was great with close beach access, and well away from the main road through town. We would definitely stay here again.

Great beach stay

This was a great stay! It was a super easy walk to the beach, and a beautiful 3-story home. We stayed with our dog and found that using the outside staircases was much easier moving between floors than the indoor spiral staircase. The hot tub was wonderful, the kitchen was spotless, and the bed comfy! Would stay again!

Anchor’s Away

Our stay at Sail Away in Salvo was practically perfect. The salt box rustic home was exactly as described & in pics but even better. The home was clean top to bottom. All inclusive but dish towels. We are very neat ppl & only had a minor issue which is a feat to satisfy us for a larger home with 3 floors, 2 bathrooms, 4 beds, multiple decks, outdoor shower, grill area, observation deck, & Hot Tub! The kitchen is large & fully equipped & anything you would need is available. Even games, books, beach supplies, patio chairs, picnic table. The beds were very comfortable. Each room is tastefully furnished. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 showers with cold & hot water. Heating & climate control AC in each room. The views from every level including star gazing on roof were great! Grilling supplies including charcoal are provided. The short walk to beach is easy & you can see the ocean & sound from balconies. We loved the hot tub most of all. The decor is awesome in every room. The host thought of everything plus the kitchen sink which is deep and great for clean up. The host was extremely helpful & responsive & informative. We had only 1 minor issue which he offered to take care of right away. He was also very flexible in accommodating our needs & requests. Can’t recommend Sail Away enough. Proximity to local shops, beaches, restaurants was primo. We hit all the beaches, inlets, towns, 4 lighthouses, villages, islands in OBX with a Free car ferry to Ocracoke. Will definitely stay again.

Great Stay in Salvo

Really has everything you need for a great time at the beach. The spiral staircase is a little tricky to navigate at first, but it's easily worked around by using the outside stairs, and you can block it off to keep dogs or toddlers from getting too curious. We did have a little issue with leakage during a day of heavy rain, but Kyle was super responsive and offered to have someone come out. Didn't end up being much of a worry, because the weather passed and we didn't have any issues in lighter rains.

Great Family Vacation

The property is as described. Very short walk through the dunes to a perfect beach. The area is less commercial and makes for a great family visit. The spiral staircase is a challenge for us bigger guys, but the outdoor access makes it easy. Overall a great location and house.

Sail Away

What a wonderful place and great experience staying at Sail Away! Kyle, the owner, was so helpful and the house was clean with all needed amenities. Location is awesome, and the area is so peaceful!! I highly recommend this booking - you won’t be disappointed!!

Totally relaxing!!!

What a great week in salvo— we just got back and kept saying. It was a favorite vacation for sure. It’s close to the beach even closer than the pictures make it look— house was great with 2 bedrooms on lower level. Another bedroom on the top and the middle was the kitchen tv hangout room. So many decks too we loved the top deck for the 4th of July. Great fireworks! We used the outside shower all week. We definitely would go back and hope to. Beach was beautiful! The owner was great— so easy to message and quick responses! Very nice!! Definitely stay there if you can!! 🌊

Comfortable home in amazing neighborhood!

House was just as advertised. It was clean and comfortable. The a/c worked great and the kitchen was well stocked. It was an easy walk to the beach and a wonderful area to ride bikes. We loved sitting out on the decks and even were able to use the hot tub. I loved the outdoor shower for cleaning up after beach trips. There were movies and board games that were great for the rainy days. I'd definitely recommend this home to anyone.

Perfect Outer Banks Rental

We always love staying at this house. Salvo is the perfect quiet space providing the ideal location for both action packed outdoor adventures & complete peace. The house has everything we could need, offers beautiful views, was impeccably clean, is a short walk over the dunes to the beach & a quick bike ride to the sound. There was a tiny issue my partner noticed while I was in the shower; he reached out to the property management company & when I got out of the shower, I had a missed call from the owner addressing it - while I still didn't know anything about it. How's that for responsiveness?! See you next summer and thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

We fell in love with the Outer Banks during my first visit several years ago. The quiet beach of Salvo is our favorite spot to de-stress and we're excited to share it with other people. This house was truly a labor of love for us. We adore the area, the culture, and the way of life, and try to visit as much as possible.
