Chattahoochee Shoals – Cozy Pet Friendly River Cottage

Bring your fishing rods for excitement on the banks of the Chattahoochee River! Chattahoochee Shoals boasts over 220 feet of riverfront. In this newly renovated home, guests will enjoy two floors of indoor and outdoor living space, with spectacular river views throughout. Open any door at Chattahoochee Shoals to enjoy the relaxing sound of the Chattahoochee River rushing over the plentiful rocks and boulders. Bring your kayak or just sit by the water and let the day flow by. Enjoy the large deck overlooking the river while grilling on the gas barbecue, take the new stairs down to the outdoor firepit. Don't forget Fido or Fifi! Chattahoochee Shoals is pet-friendly.

The main level has an open floor plan (new flooring), with new cozy furniture and a smart TV. There is a subscription to YouTube TV so you have access to live local news, sports, movies, and your favorite tv shows. Dine at the round table or the bench table in the kitchen, while enjoying all the light that shines from the walls of windows. The master bedroom is located on the main floor and has a king-size bed. The adjacent bath featuring a shower/tub combination.

The kitchen has new granite countertops, full-size stainless steel appliances, and brand-new cabinets and backsplash tiles. The cabinets are filled with all the dishes, pots, pans and utensils you will need to cook up a fantastic meal at home, or at your new home-away-from-home! The coffee maker is both a standard drip with a 12-cup carafe and a one-cup Keurig. Just off the kitchen is the laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer.

Upstairs, the oversized loft has two queen beds, a sitting area, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Downstairs is the large entertainment room with a large screen Smart TV, also connected to YouTube TV. The hot tub is located just out the sliding glass doors. The new furniture in this room is a futon sofa and lounger. Room for 3 more guests! The downstairs bathroom has also been remodeled with a brand-new walk-in shower.

Guests frequently return to this jewel to enjoy the river and the ever-changing year-round views. Now it's time to revisit to see all the renovations and upgrades to a family favorite!

The road going to this cabin is gravel and dirt. The long steep private drive is paved and has a one-way sign for easier access and direction. We recommend an AWD or 4X4 during winter months.

This is a pet-friendly cabin and a one-time per-pet fee will be added if you bring your dog(s). The pet fees that will be added to your reservation are $75 + tax for the first and $50 + tax for each additional.

• Minimum Age Requirement: Chattahoochee Shoals is available to families or to guests 21 years and older.
• Parking: Space is available for 2 vehicles.
• Access: Dirt and gravel road up to the property. The driveway is paved, steep and has a one-way sign. 4WD or AWD Highly Recommended.
• Pets: Chattahoochee Shoals is pet-friendly.
• Location: 16 miles to downtown Helen.

Had a great time. We can only come back if we get a 4wd vehicle, but luckily we made it out of the driveway. A few times it was iffy actually getting out, but the listing did mention that so I didn’t take off any stars for it. Other than that. Loved the space, the hot tub, and the roominess for the price!!!

PERFECT place to stay! Our family of 4 had so much fun. The cabin was great! Spacious, clean, quiet. We never saw another person. There is a cabin next door, but no renters at the time. The cabin has everything you need. Cell service is low, but the cabin has wifi. Smart TV’s were great for the kids. Hot tub was amazing! (The breaker to turn on is behind the red fencing) The river was so much fun! The river was very low, so all the shoals were exposed and we spent most days just walking up and down the river and exploring. We even hired a photographer for a family photoshoot on the river. The walk down to the river is a little steep, but pretty easy. The driveway as stated in some other reviews is a little difficult. Half is gravel, the other half closest to the cabin is concrete. The drive up the driveway when you hit the gravel is challenging in 2WD. Luckily, we rented a suv that has 4WD which made it easier. Would reccomend the owner have it graded more often. The dips in the gravel from people’s tires is what makes it difficult. Cabin is close enough to town, but far enough away. We would come back again and again.

Wonderful experience and very clean. Our family of 6 enjoyed every moment and even were blessed to bring our two dogs who also loved it! The river is definitely a great highlight.

Peaceful and secluded

Pet-friendly with a reasonable fee for pets. Kids and dog loved playing at the water. It was unfortunate the hot tub didn't work. We were very much looking forward to that. But it happens. The cabin definitely needs more seating in the living room area. Also outside on the deck. A swing or rockers would be nice. The grill was on the small side. It works, though. Now that driveway! HOLY MOLY that thing is an adventure on its own! AWD/4WD is definitely preferred for this driveway! We had a friend that lives up there visit for a few hours and he brought his 4WD truck. Even he said that was no way they would have gotten up that driveway in his other vehicle. There is a flat area to park up towards the top, but its still... scary.

Great location/view

The house/cabin was comfortable and the view in the back is just wonderful. Our only issue was that we found out late the hot tub wasn’t full and did not get to use it all weekend. However property manager did respond and gave a small refund.

Great stay on the River

The space felt smaller than the pictures but the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for a holiday stay. The gravel driveway took skills and a high clearance car to manage. Everything was clean and location on the river was very relaxing

Memorable get-a-way

I wanted to get away and hide in nature and this home fit the bill perfectly! The sound of the river was so calming and the hot tub made it better. I watched the kids hopping along the rocks while enjoying my coffee. Gorgeous views!! The house also had everything we needed to make a Thanksgiving feast. The only thing that stressed me out was that driveway. My car barely made it up the hill and sustained some damage. I would return but with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Highly recommend.

Mold

The view and location was amazing. Very steep driveway. The cabin was nice. The only problem is m allergic to mold and suffer from chronic migraines. The minute ee opened the door the mold smell hit you in the face. I was up all night sick from the smell triggering my headaches. Called property management and told them we were checking out due to the mold smell . They quickly did a refund for part of our trip. That about sums it up.

Peaceful Nature Retreat with Some Challenges

As a disabled veteran with a service animal and another 2 dogs, I found the booking process very accommodating and the staff extremely helpful.Pros: •The place is very nice, clean, and nestled next to the Chattahoochee River. •The house is surrounded by nature, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. •Easy access to nearby towns and attractions, with Walmart just 12 minutes away and Helen, GA, about 25 minutes away. •Comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. •The house is well-decorated in a minimalist style, making it feel cozy and uncluttered. •Pet-friendly with a reasonable fee for pets. They even provide pet bowls (for smaller pets) and plenty of towels marked “doggie.”Cons: •Arrival Night: Do not arrive at night! The GPS only gets you so far, and the last part of the journey is pitch dark. You’ll need to follow specific directions to navigate the gravel driveway that turns into concrete. There’s a right turn marked by a sign on a tree; missing this turn leads to a very steep hill. Trust me, going up is better than going down! •Bugs: Forget about enjoying the deck at night due to the bugs. It’s best to return home before sundown. •Free-Roaming Dogs: People let their dogs roam free without leashes. One of my dogs is aggressive towards other dogs, and a large dog approached us causing a bit of panic, leading to a fall down the steep hill. Luckily, no severe injuries. Despite these challenges, the rest of our trip was uneventful and enjoyable. The property itself is beautiful, with easy access to the river. There are steps or a side path to get down to the river, where there’s a great spot for dogs (and humans) to enjoy the water. My dog loved it!Overall

Weekend getaway

Perfect cozy get away for a family of 6 !

Other than the scenic beauty of the river flowing ( the sounds of the rushing water were mesmerizing) the fireplace in the living room was our favorite part. The hot tub was huge !!!! They even had a box fan tucked away in a closet for use , which I loved !!! We would definitely stay her again if we were to revisit the area :) The one and only thing I would recommend to GA mountain rentals is to maybe get a rug for the inside and outside of the entrance door. It was pouring down rain on us when we arrived and it was virtually impossible to not track mud & water inside, which made a huge mess. I think a rug both in/out would have helped with the mess. We mopped up after ourselves to not leave such a muddy mess! Happy traveling !! Oh ... I also had trouble getting the lock to unlock so I called after hours for help and the gentleman was quick to offer to come down to the property and help us get in the house .. we finally got it open so there was no need but it was great customer service !

Snowy Christmas Getaway

Our stay was amazing. The cabin was a little hard to get to, and hard to get out of with small cars. Ylhowever, that didn't damper our stay one bit. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights over Christmas. It has plenty, I mean plenty, of space for celebrations like that. My daughter and I stayed in the loft area, my parents had the master, and we all used the downstairs game area from time to time. My dad mostly stayed down there to avoid all the ladies, as my aunts came over every day to visit from their cabin. We enjoyed the cabin immensely and have decided we will be vacationing every year for Christmas. A genuinely great experience.

Loved it!

The only issues were a few bugs in the house and the chairs outside were wet. It would be nice to have a spot outside to put them up when not in use. Other than that it was perfect! We will return.
